Hi,
I had a C-secton the first time round and would like to try for a natural birth this time.I was just wondering what to expect - e.g., how long are they going to let me labour without intervention, would they induce me if I go over my due date, etc. My midwife couldn't really talk me through the various options specifically - she said it would depend on the hospital. I'm going to see the consultant when I'm 39+3, which, I think, is leaving it a bit late, but what can you do? However, I don't think it will make any difference anyways,as, in my experience, the midwives and doctors on the delivery ward keep changing the plan and their minds and talk nonsense half the time just to shut you up.

Sorry if it sounds harsh, but this is my previous experience. I am getting really scared about the whole thing and would appreciate any advice / experience, as I'd like to know what to expect and at the moment there isn't any professional advice I can rely on.

Thanks, Ants.

there is a thread on here called 'support for imminent VBACers' which has lots of useful information

odds can vary according to why you had a c.s last time, but on the whole, they are usually good odds !

protocols vary from hospital to hospital , but you can make an informed choice to accept/ decline any or all of the things they offer you

39 + 3 to talk about mode of delivery or options for birth is a bit late, isn;t it?

if you want to go for a VBAC, then it is worth considering a doula to support you before during and after the labour and birth.
