Baby’s tummy is measuring above the 100th centile - there’s a little gap at the end of the line then the diamond to show where it is. I’m diabetic, but well controlled and I didn’t have this in my last pregnancy. I had an induction/forceps delivery last time and DD was 6lb5, so very average for 37+0.

Obstetrician hasn’t mentioned a c-section on account of the abdomen, but have read a few shoulder dystocia horror stories so just looking for ‘real life’ experiences really.

Thanks!

Can't remember the centile but my second was measuring big for head, abdomen and leg length. The length was right but she's always been quite slim really around her stomach so that was way off. I had a vaginal birth and no issues. Just gas and air and a small tear. She came a little bit early and I would have been induced otherwise but that was left up to us. The consultant we spoke to was really good going through the options. How many weeks are you?

Following this!! I am not diabetic but my baby's abdomen is over the 99th percentile, head is on the 99th and femur is a little lower.. at my last scan at 33+6 her abdomen measured at 40+1. 🤦‍♀️

How far are you? Will you be getting induced? I'm 35w today xx

I was in a similar situation. I asked for a c-section and was really glad I did. Surgeon and all the others I spoke to said I'd have ended up with an emergency C-section if I hadn't had an elective.

I'm tall and skinny frame . Everyone freaked out about my 2nd pregnancy with measuring HUGE may need a C-section etc. Had a vaginal birth and DS was 6lbs14. 3rd pregnancy was 'oh he's measuring small' and was 8.6lbs not massive but certainly not tiny compared to previous DCs. First one no one mentioned size at all and she was 5lbs but perfectly healthy, just mini. On the basis of of my trio I have not much faith in measurements 😆 ironically DS (middle child that sonographers ha me convinced was a beast is still pocket sized but my palm sized DD aged 14 is an actual giant 🤣

Thanks for the replies I’m 30 weeks on Friday. I’m being induced at 37-38 weeks just because I’m diabetic, so I guess it may solve itself that way. Overall his weight is 70th centile and other measurements are 20th-50th, it’s just the huge tummy dragging but up! Hopefully even a 100th centile tummy at 37 weeks isn’t that much larger than an average 40 week one?? If you see what I mean.

I had GD with my LO, with his tummy measuring big but everything else in the average ranges.

Induced at 39 weeks, forceps delivery but that was because he was facing the wrong way. He was 8lb6 and all was fine.

My DD born in December measured over 99th centile for abdomen too. We had no end of growth scans but as her head and tummy were measuring fine they said that it would be fine for a natural vaginal birth.
She was born at home in a birthing pool at 41 weeks. She DID get stuck and still now at 5 weeks old has red bruising around her eyelids because of it. But all it took was a change in position to dislodge her when the midwives realised.
Overall it was fine, one slight tear that didn’t need stitches and a few grazes. Getting stuck wasn’t as scary as I’d been led to believe and I was still allowed my homebirth so they obviously weren’t concerned either.

Gook luck!!

Oh and she weighed 8lb 8oz so was hefty but her abdomen was not out of proportion at all. It was the head that felt huge, the tummy just slid out!
