Basically, my job makes me miserable. I hate it and I know lots of people say that but I REALLY hate it. I've have just found out I'm pregnant! Very early days. I want to know, would you quit the job or stick it out?

Would you look for another job?

TakeABite · 20/01/2023 22:52

How long have you worked there and what would maternity pay be?

Dacadactyl · 20/01/2023 22:53

Stick it out for the maternity pay.

LottieBuzz · 20/01/2023 22:57

Yes I would have to find another job for the money.
The maternity pay is 10 weeks’ at 90% of normal pay. 29 weeks SMP and 13 weeks’ unpaid leave.
I've worked there 9 years.

Do you have to return for a set length of time after may leave? If not then I’d stick it out, tag any holidays you can onto your mat leave so you finish up earlier, enjoy your mat leave and then find something else to go back to if you plan on working again after.

Yes I have to return for 3 months.
I think the answer is sticking it out. Its an intense job with long hours, but when the time comes to share that I'm pregnant maybe I can try and work out some ways to make it easier. Just keep going for now.
