Hi everyone.

I googled getting pregnant at 40 last night and it seemed to suggest that there's a 5% chance of getting pregnant at that age. I didn't like those odds.

I was wondering if you could give me some positive stories about getting pregnant at 40 and above.

Hi! I am pregnant at 43 with DC5.

My previous pregnancies were in my 20’s and 30’s, and my family used to joke that my other half would only have to look at me and I would be pregnant.

It took us a lot longer to get pregnant this time, about 8 months of tracking ovulation and planning, and it happened only we after we stopped trying. I even went on a crash diet, resumed more intense exercise and stopped peeing on a stick every month, thinking ‘I am obviously too old for this’ and then the surprise pregnancy.

Yes - it quotes a 5% chance of pregnancy at each cycle, and 20% chance of pregnancy over a year. So according to the internet, we are doing pretty well.

Hi all
Im fast approaching 45 and have been ttc since feb this year. Had 3 early miscarriages in that time. Ivf not an option. Im wondering if im chasing a lost hope 😞. Any inspiration, tips or advice welcome.

Hi @Countrygirl777 I’m 43 and been ttc since my Mmc back in March of this year. Currently in 2ww. Said we weren’t going to ‘try’ and if it happened it happens. Doesn’t stop you purposely Dtd in the 3 day window though. I have hope because I did fall pregnant at the end of Dec/early Jan of this year. So it’s doable. I’ve decided that if we do conceive again I will be demanding progesterone supplements from the gp. Other than that, I think In all honesty it’s an egg lottery at our age 😔
ivf not an option for me either. DP not keen.

Sat here with my 10 month old baby..... I was 41, dad was 48..... it was that one time.... where we stupidly thought that we would be ok.

Would you prefer she had you ?

Early days for me but I'm 41 and 10 weeks pregnant with second child (will be 42 when due)

This time round took a lot longer to conceive but we did it naturally with no medical intervention.

Good luck everyone ❤️

I had ivf at 36 after 6 years of unsuccessful fertility drugs and treatment.

Baby#2 was born at 38 completely natural.
Baby#3 is due in 4 weeks and I'm 40. Also completely natural conception. It does happen!

Good luck

41 here and 23 weeks pregnant. Due Dec and will still be 41 when he gets here. Had first baby at 39. Textbook pregnancy and ELCS due to breech. So far so good with this pregnancy 🤞, though I’m more tired with a toddler to wrangle. It wasn’t easy either time but for different reasons. Took a year and multiple losses for DD, and this time one loss but seemingly harder to catch. It took 6 cycles excluding the loss. Both were natural pregnancies. I don’t want to jinx things by throwing out all my ovulation and pregnancy tests but my god, I will be glad to never TTC again.

I don’t have an uplifting story - although I am 46 and pregnant naturally, I’ve also had many loses after 42 (none before that age) so I’m very cautiously optimistic.

BUT I have uplifting statistics for you! Once out of curiosity I’ve checked SCB data (this is the Swedish equivalent of ONS) and up until the proper onset of the Industrial Revolution there were more children born every year to women aged 45 and over, than to women aged 16-20. Quite surprising, right?
