Vitamin A in my prenatal supplement

I went for a Nature Plus (source of life garden) prenatal multivitam as I was confused vs folic acid and foliate and decided to go for the more natural one. (only found just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant and haven't been taking anything so feeling quite worried!) but I've just seen the multi vitamin has 'Vitamin A from natural beta carotene' and dosage is 69% of recommended intake.
I've mostly read that vitamin A is harmful in pregnancy but a few things say its OK. Does anyone know if that % is safe or if I should scrap it all together? Thank you in advance xx

Yep, completely safe. It’s “preformed” vitamin A (retinol) that’s dangerous in high doses. Beta carotene is a precursor of vitamin A that your body converts. Any excess is excreted safely by your body, but there won’t be too much anyway in your tablets, which are formulated for pregnancy.

There is actually an awful lot of misinformation around vitamin A safety in pregnancy.

This, by a dietician who has gone through the data with a fine tooth comb, is a really interesting read: lilynicholsrdn.com/liver-organ-meat/

"birth defects attributed to high vitamin A intake are extremely rare; fewer than 20 cases were reported over a 30-year period, none of which were attributed to the consumption of liver. Another study I came across found that 80% of women of childbearing age in the United States are not meeting the recommended intake of vitamin A per day — quite a bit more than the 30% figure I cite in Real Food for Pregnancy. In one study of U.S. women and their infants, only about half of mothers had adequate retinol status, and even more shocking was that only 1.5% of infants were retinol replete. This raises major concerns whether our vitamin A recommendations are appropriate."
