Downs tests results bad news

Hi all.

I'm not entirely sure what the pre screening tests are called, but the midwife just called and my results came back as high at 1/14.
Apparently 1/150 is considered high risk, so 1/14 has knocked me for six.

Has anyone else had high results, gone on to have more bloods and possibly the fluid from the womb test (I don't know the names, I'm in shock) and had a healthy baby?

I'm absolutely devastated. After over 3 years of trying and intervention from specialists, I'm at this shit stage.
Please help 😔

DS2's results were 1 in 4, I had an amnio waited 2 days for the result and it came back all clear. He's 10 months now but I still remember that sick feeling after the phone call, I hope it turns out ok for you too. Flowers

My results were 1/110 so lower than yours but still high risk. I was 26 so no age factor.
I had a harmony test and the results were then 1/100000 or something. My DD doesn't have downs, but I needed more information and tests to be prepared. If I had doubts after the harmony I would have had an amnio.
I hope your ok OP, I know it can be a shock.

I was the 1:11 when it happened to me.

Our baby had numerous health issues and we opted for TFMR, which almost broke me as we'd been trying over a year. We did go on to have a normal pregnancy shortly after though.

Make sure you get as much info as you can.
I was quite happy to have all the tests as I assumed I'd not have any issues. When I did, I wished I'd never had them.
For me, despite the markers we knew from a thorough scan that our baby hadn't got any serious physical abnormalities and that was enough for us.
No test can really give you complete certainty of every potential issue.
Take things one step at a time.

Mine was 1 in 2. I had the Amniocentesis and had to wait a week for the results. I remember that feeling. It came back negative and he's now 12 - I still don't know why it came out so high.

Please look at Don't be Sorry account on Facebook. Honest reflections of a mum to a gorgeous boy who has Downs Syndrome. It's a very honest account and she has helped lots of families in your position and also many health care professionals to deliver the news in a more positive way. I understand this will be a worrying time for you with the uncertainty and I wish you strength. Your baby will be wonderful with or without DS.

I thought I'd give a little update as I hate it when reading threads and there's no outcome!

I had my NIPT test last week and the midwife rang yesterday so say the results were low risk and I don't need any further tests.

So much relief!
What a horrible time waiting to hear the results. I really feel for everyone going through the same, it's awful!

But good news, onwards and upwards Smile
