ICSI pregnancy - Significant Weight again

Hi everyone,

Just after a bit of advice really. I'm 13.5 weeks pregnant after conceiving through ICSI. In 13 weeks I've gained 2 stone.

The midwives have said it could be partly because of the progesterone injections I've been taking. Just wondered if anyone else on here gained a lot of weight with an IVF pregnancy?

I know that it's completely unimportant in the grand scheme of things but I do feel quite self conscious and have lost quite a lot of confidence, so just keen to know if it's normal.

Thanks!

probably this.
While progesterone doesn't directly cause weight gain, it does increase your hunger levels which may make you feel like you're eating more and therefore gaining weight

I didn’t put a lot of weight on as I’d always been a really careful eater but then
colleagues (older ladies, multiple kids) commented when I started eating cake every day Blush saying that I’d be sorry if I used my pregnancy to eat. It embarrassed me a bit that they’d noticed, so I went back to being more mindful of my eating habits so I didn’t really gain too much. They probably noticed because I had always been so careful, they never commented to people who regularly ate cake & biscuits.
Have you felt more hungry so been eating more do you think? Could you make swaps & fill up with vegetable soup as a first course or something? Lots of pregnant women do develop a sweet tooth it seems so it wasn’t just the progesterone making me eat cake!

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Such an exciting time for you!
You are right. In the grand scheme of things it’s not the important thing. Your body is doing an amazing thing and growing your little miracle, love it and be proud of it and enjoy your pregnancy!
