This has definately been done before but I can't remember the outcome and I'm curious. Mine has consisted of soooooooooooooooooooooooo much junk it's unreal. Masses of crisps, biscuits, cereal, gallons of milk, bananas, a little chocolate, cakes, chips chips chips etc etc.

However, I've started feeling REALLY ill the past few days and can't bring myself to eat.

I have two questions.
Firstly, at the moment, I'm living on orange juice (and last night I managed to eat a pitta with chicken in it)... is this enough? I've barely eaten for 3 days so far and I can't see me feeling any better any time soon. I'd put on a lot of weight but obviously it seems to be slowing down now because of the lack of eating and the being sick.

Also, has everyone else been eating junk? What's your daily diet like? I think we should all confess our sins on the safety of mumsnet.

Your diet seems good to me mumblesmummy. Can't wait to get that stage- at the moment I'm just on fruit and water and bread occcaionally- also not really losing weight so must be ok. I'm only 8 weeks so hope things will improve soon! I only just found this site and it's so good + I've found all the advice good + reassuring.

I normally have a pretty healthy diet however now that im pregnant that seems to have gone slightly haywire! I crave kit kats all day long!!! and often end up eating junk food... which isnt really gonna do me or the unborn baby any good. My main craving is for ice tho... how bizare! Just so u know i gained about 2 stone in my last pregnancy and i ate alot of crap... was nearly back to my orrigian weight after 5 months but then i found out i was pregnant again. I spose its all to do with individuals. but the best thing u can do for u and ur babber is to eat a good healthy balanced diet! probs telling you what you already know. char x

Hi Mumbles, that doesn't seem to be enough food to me. But if this is down to nausea then it can hardly be helped. How far along are you?

I am 25 wks PG and the thing I try to do every day is have enough fibre, cos constipation is no joke in pregnancy!

So I eat at least 4, usually 6, slices of wholemeal bread every day (check the pack - it should have about 3g of fibre per slice), plus dried apricots, an apple, a banana and perhaps one other piece of fruit each day. And I have high-fibre cereal (porridge, but All bran is also good) for breakfast. Then vegetables with my dinner but I have to say they are not very appetising even though I used to love them! But I force them down or do them in a casserole cos they are nicer then.

I also make sure I get enough protein cos that is what the baby is made out of! Chicken and cottage cheese are great sources of protein. Try to get three servings of protein a day (cheese, yogurt, meat, beans, pulses etc)

Also calcium, try to get three servings a day. I drink a pint of milk, have 150g of yogurt and one low-fat cheese sandwich every day. I also take a supplement but that is cos I am having twins.

Steer clear of sugary things cos they will make you feel ill. The occasional treat is fine though. I had McDonald's last weekend as a 'treat' but it made me feel awful!

My advice is eat when you are hungry, and try to make sure what you do eat ticks some boxes eg protein/fibre/calcium etc!

And drink plenty of water!!

Gosh, I am sorry if my post sounded preachy, it wasn't meant to be! I think you should be guided by your appetite but try to get in as much of the good stuff as poss!

I ate really healthy in preparation for pregnancy and I hope that a combination of my "reserves" and a multivitamin will see me through. I just can't stomach the wonderful healthy diet that all the books advocate.
On the other hand, I ate almost nothing with DD (literally, 90% of my diet consisted of 4 foods for the first 2 trimesters and small portions too) and DD is fit and healthy.

Am 9 weeks tomorrow, current diet consists of (not all in one day):

Brown Toast (buttered or with peanut butter)
Potatoes (sometimes jacket with tuna)
Pasta
Chicken
Cheese Sandwiches
Beef (burgers, bolognese, pies)
Fish fingers
Fruit
At least one veggie day a week

Trying really hard to eat more veg, I used to eat loads when I was able to cook more, but by the time I get home from work I'm too hungry to cook without feeling nauseous so end up eating the quickest thing to prepare (usually pasta or a sandwich). Basically eating loads of savoury comfort food (find it easy to avoid cakes and biscuits)

Have totally gone off chocolate, which is a shame.

Hello

Think you just have to go with what your body is telling you to eat.

I had TERRIBLE morning sickness, dizziness, tiredness etc..

I am finding that eating 5 small meals a day is helping.

Also nearly cut out wheat and sugar. Just the occasional biccie.

Breakie is yogurt and granola

Oat cakes have been my saviour. Been eating them with some protein , hummus, tinned sardines or cheese. Great for snacks to keep blood sugar levels up and sickness/dizzyness down.

Loads of soup / white fish with potatoes / Veg stews

Also cut out oranges unless as a juice as was getting cronic indigestion from them?!?

Have always got a bag of nuts in my handbag as well since I fainted in waitrose (ahem lucky them eh?)

Oh yeah and a fried egg is always a good standby.

It's snackcentral in my house. Quite enjoying it as well.
(apart from my still bad heart burn and the occasional barf, at 20 weeks i might add, that is)

With my last baby I joined a chocolate club (!?!?!) where they sent you a big box of chocs once a month. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Not this time tho'!
