Aspirin in new pregnancy after miscarriage?

Hello all. Tia for reading. I’m just wondering if anyone has experience with taking aspirin in a pregnancy after miscarriage? I’ve heard mixed things. I’ve had 2 previous mc (12 weeks & 10 weeks) and 1 full term pregnancy over the past 4 years and now I am pregnant again. 🌈 I’m nervous about having another loss and am considering taking aspirin. If your consultant/doctor advised you, when did you start taking it? I’m only about 4 weeks along and I read somewhere it can affect implantation so I don’t want to take it too early. But I also think I’d be kicking myself if this pregnancy ends in loss again and I didn’t at least try something different. 😔 Thanks for sharing your experience. 🤗

Hi OP I'm so sorry for your previous losses. I have a four year old and had two miscarriages last year. I'm now 37 weeks pregnant and actually going in for induction tonight 🥴. With this pregnancy I took it upon myself to take aspirin as soon as I got my positive test. I felt that at least I was doing something proactive. My midwife, when I told her said that there was absolutely no harm in it though she couldn't say whether it had had any difference. All I can say is that after the two miscarriages this pregnancy with the aspirin has stuck. It might be utter coincidence and it might not be but the medical professionals told me.it certainly wouldn't have done any harm. Good luck!

I took Aspirin at 6 weeks as advised by my consultant right up until a week before a planned induction. I had Factor V Lieden which causes clotting so as well as the Aspirin I was also prescribed Heparin.

Sorry for your losses OP. I had a miscarriage in April and following some research I decided to take aspirin from my positive test. I took 75mg from then until about 12 weeks and I’m now 36 weeks. No idea if it had any impact on the success of the pregnancy or not and I doubt I’ll ever know but I’d certainly
do it again in future pregnancies!

All the very best xx

The nurse at the hospital after my 2nd miscarriage told me to start taking 'baby asprin' (low dose) when we started to try again. She said its not officially advised as there isn't enough research into it but she said they know anecdotally it works. I started taking it and was pregnant on my second month of trying and i am certain it helped me get pregnant with DD. I continued until i was 12 weeks and I'd had a private scan.
Good luck :)

I stared 75mg aspirin from my BFP - which I was 3 weeks and 1 day! (FRER). I’m currently 17 weeks 🥰💙 when I spoke to my midwife she said is fine to take and if anything would help with possible preeclampsia! Good luck, praying for a sticky one for you!

CaliGirl47 · 14/01/2023 15:32

Wow that’s amazing! So nice to hear such good experiences. I’m so glad you both got your rainbow babies 🥹🌈🎉
@1000yellowdaisies

I’m definitely going to give it a go. I read somewhere that they recommend taking it at bedtime? So I will start tonight. Thanks ladies for your help. And it’s especially good to know that you started it very early into pregnancy without any complications. @HalWin2221 Thanks hun. That’s really reassuring. Xx

I had three consecutive miscarriages with no reasons found. I fell pregnant again and from 7 weeks the early pregnancy unit told me to start taking two 75mg of aspirin at night, I have and now I’m 14 weeks pregnant with a very lively baby, the furthest I’ve gotten since my losses. I think there is alot of people it has worked for, sending you all the love for a happy and healthy pregnancy 💕

CaliGirl47 · 15/01/2023 08:30

I’m so sorry to hear about your losses @Cindy974 Thank you so much for sharing your story. 💕 Did they say why to start after 7 weeks, or was that just how far along you were when they saw you? I’m overjoyed that you’ve got a lovely bundle of joy now. 🥹🌈 I really wish you all the best in the rest of your pregnancy. X

LethargicButAwesome · 21/03/2023 01:56

@CaliGirl47 did you take the aspirin…I’m intrigued .

same boat.

CaliGirl47 · 21/03/2023 07:28

Hi there. @LethargicButAwesome So I started taking the aspirin for a couple of days at a low dose 75 mg. But then I was offered some reassurance scans from my local Tommy’s miscarriage clinic. And when I asked them about it they said they don’t recommend aspirin for my medical history and circumstances at that stage (I was 4+5) . And I asked multiple people multiple times and the answer I got was the same. I hadn’t had any specific blood results or testing showing that I needed it prescribed so they said their research didn’t recommend it and it could do more harm than good. So I stopped taking it straight away. I am now 13 weeks along and all seems well. But ironically at my NHS dating scan my obstetrician prescribed me 150 mg aspirin from 12 weeks onwards to ensure good blood supply to baby because my only successful pregnancy was induced in the end because of IUGR. So she wanted to take preventative measures in case there’s an issue with placenta. So I have been taking 150mg since 12 weeks 🤷🏻‍♀️

😄 hope all is going well with the pregnancy - exciting time to be getting out of the first trimester and beginning to tell people.

my situation is slightly different my condition means aspirin is recommended for me as well as heparin when I hit 7 weeks. Hope I do amaze to hit 7 weeks!
