Ongoing early pregnancy cramps

Hi all,

I got my BFP a week ago and I am almost 6 weeks pregnant. Since finding out I’ve had waves of period pain-like cramping.

It happens most evenings. Right in my lower abdomen. I can’t get comfortable when they happen and they can keep me awake at night (I just had them on and off 3-6am).

My question is when would you worry? I’ve read online that a little cramp is normal but this feels like more than a little.

Also does anyone have any advice on relieving them? Hot water bottle is helping but not hugely practical.

Tbh I always had more cramping in early pregnancy than I ever had period cramps!! Ime it's a good sign. Any bleeding needs looking into though...

I had it too, the nurse said it was very normal. It went away at about 8 weeks and returned at 17 weeks and scared the crap out of me but went away again.

So sorry I've posted to the wrong thread. Will ask to have it removed

I had crazy cramping in the beginning! I’ve always had awful period pains anyway but these were also painful. I’m now 25 weeks and all good. If there is no blood and the pain isn’t focused on one side (ectopic pregnancy) then I wouldn’t worry. You can ring the midwife and they will reassure you. I was very anxious about it too because no one really talks about it.

Oh and I had to take paracetamol which is safe in pregnancy.

It's very early. I had cramping early on in both in successful pregnancies and ectopic.
I'd maybe suggest paracetamol and carrying on as normal.
