Fissure 17 Weeks Pregnant

Hey All,
So I’m 99% sure I’ve got a fissure.
I’ve had one before getting pregnant and it’s a similar feeling and stinging.
A lot more blood this time but guessing that’s due to how hard my stools are (why does no one warn you, you poo like a rabbit during pregnancy 😭).
Other than Orange & Prune juice has anyone got any good tips to help soften stools? Or to help fissures? I’d rather not use medication e.g fibre gel or senekot.
Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

Vaseline!

Bepanthen. (Appologies for how I'll put this, I have Crohn's disease and am just used to talking like it with my DH now 😂)

It's not going to help you poop easier (loser/more normal) but it will help your bumhole get less sore when you are pooping and will make sure you don't aggravate the skin more over wiping and feels a bit smoother coming out 🤦‍♀️ I'm sorry!

@Emmalou0607 no that’s so great thank you so much I’ll give it a try 🙏🏻🤞🏻
Also if it makes you feel better I made my DP check my butt hole to check the bleeding definitely was coming from there and not the front.
Our relationship definitely changed since I became pregnant 😂

@Throwncrumbs TY! I’ll give that a go too 🙏🏻🤞🏻

I'm desperate to know too so will follow this thread :)
I cry at the thought of going to the toilet sometimes lol!
Good luck with it x

@littlepeanuthopes the least fun! 😭
I knew as soon as the pregnancy rabbit poops started I was in for a fissure 😭
Fyi I spoke to the midwife yesterday and she said it’s like the worst thing you can get as pretty much untreatable as every time you go your re opening.
Said lots of fibre and orange juice with bits and prune juice plus laxative if needed!

Movicol is a really gentle medicine that's safe in pregnancy and keeps more water in your poo so it stays softer and easier to pass. Was a lifesaver when I had a fissure in pregnancy

littlepeanuthopes · 12/01/2023 18:24

Oh great to know! Will try that 🤞🏼

COL1N · 12/01/2023 18:41

Movicol or Laxido- both safe in pregnancy, Laxido worked better for me

firsttimelondonmummy · 12/01/2023 19:12

@littlepeanuthopes I really would try natural fixes first.
After a week of orange juice (bitty) and adding more fruit into my diet my bleeding has stopped today without medical intervention 🥳
Worth a try right?

Thanks everyone though, if it comes back and diet isn’t a fixer again I’ll try these.

@firsttimelondonmummy very true! I feel like I'm trying so hard to increase my fibre intake to start with so let's see. Glad your bleeding stopped. Hopefully it keeps getting better

talkingmorenonsense · 12/01/2023 19:49

Yes, Laxidol and you can get an anaesthetic gel from the pharmacy to put onto the ahem, affected area.

mumof2bambinos · 28/07/2023 13:32

I have had a fissure for over a year that just wont heal. And after using movicol daily my stools wont bulk up again. Any advice from a very stressed depressed mama
