16 week scan

I've had a gender scan at 16+1 as I've had a previous MMC and been so so nervous the last few weeks thinking things would go wrong again, but baby was healthy and we were told it's a girl!

How likely is it they're right? The sonographer looked between the legs and there was absolutely nothing there. Can a penis hide?

Also was told I have an anterior placenta and I'm very worried about this. I thought I was starting to feel baby move (which really will be the only thing that will stop me panicking about this pregnancy) but sonographer said it's not possible and I won't feel movement till a lot later. My last pregnancy with posterior placenta I felt baby at 19 weeks, and had back to back labour which was horrendous and resulted in forceps, and I haemorraged. So worried this will now happen again as I've read back to back labour is more likely with an anterior placenta. Any experiences with this?

Sorry for all the jumbled thoughts!

Likely to be right about the sex although they can get it wrong - never hear this happen in real like though. My sonographer said girls have a ‘burger’ (gross right) where there are 3 lines and it looks like a burger! So if you have a pic of this then you can see it for yourself.

My friend has anterior placenta and she didn’t feel anything the entire pregnancy. However I know others that still feel the baby kick. Think it depends on exactly where the placenta is. No need to worry about it! x

I had an anterior placenta with my first pregnancy and I felt movement from around 16 weeks, could feel it on the outside before 20 weeks too so I wouldn't say that's true you won't feel it for a while.

I had an anterior placenta with my son. I’ll be honest, it was tough. Felt my first kick about 24 weeks, and only felt about 20 the entire pregnancy. I only felt them internally, eg my husband couldn’t feel them when touching my belly even though I could. I did feel shuffles though, eg when he moved position, I just didn’t feel jolts. It was hard, I’ll admit. Midwives would say “even though it’s anterior, you’ll still have a pattern”. Plus side is that I couldn’t feel him
kicking my bladder at night!

I had anterior placenta too and felt kicks from 20 weeks, and very regular feeling from 24. I think it sounds scary but I don't honestly feel like I had a stressful experience with it at all!

I have an anterior placenta and felt kicks from 20 weeks. With it being your second pregnancy I'd have thought it's perfectly possible that you're feeling kicks from 16 weeks! I don't feel as much as some people might but I feel her at least once a day (at bedtime). I wouldn't worry too much but then again, I didn't know about the increased chance of back to back labour
