Morning sickness and emetophobia

Anyone out there managed to survive their first trimester with morning sickness and emetophobia? I’m only 6 weeks and have already started on B6 + unisom because I already have all day nausea.. and it still breaks through...

terrified for how it’s meant to keep getting worse before it gets better?

How did you cope? Any tips? Pointers or words of encouragement?

I'm 34 weeks currently and very much emetophobic. Totally get your anxiety. My MS kicked in bang on 5 weeks and I had panic attacks daily as I was so worried about the nausea getting worse.

I lasted until about 6 weeks with 24/7 severe nausea (but no vomiting - not everyone who gets MS actually throws up!) and then I went to the GP as I couldn't cope.

They prescribed cyclizine, an antihistamine which did bugger all, then after I went back a few days later they gave me prochlorperazine which was a wonder drug. Made me able to function until I was able to come off it at 15 weeks. My MS peaked early at 7 or 8 weeks and eased off gradually from 13 weeks.

My best tips for coping with the nausea:

  • Sea bands/anti nausea wrist bands. Oh my god, get some. Wear them 24/7. They take a bit of the edge off.
  • Peppermint tea all day every day
-keep eating if you can, plain food like crackers and ready salted crisps every hour. Don't let yourself get hungry. -lie down as much as humanly possible and let people do things for you
  • Myrtle and Maud do these amazing peppermint bonbons which do actual wonders for nausea. They saved me, especially in the middle of the night when I'd wake up feeling dodgy
-I got my husband to give me shoulder rubs with massage oil, it seemed to help!
  • freezing cold water with lemon squeezed in, yum
-fresh air, don't let rooms get stuffy

And PLEASE don't be afraid to go to the GP for anti emetic meds if it does get bad. Mine were awesome and if they don't work there are other drugs they can try.

My sympathies to you, it is absolutely no fun at all feeling sick in addition to being in a panic about it on the daily. I hope you find something that works. ❤️

Thank you for this. When you say it peaked at 7/8 weeks that's when it was worst and it stayed that bad until week 13?
