Should I be prepared for baby coming early?

Currently coming onto 35 weeks pregnant. Really can't remember noticing signs of impending labour with my first. Feels like a lifetime ago now!

Recently I've experienced the following symptoms, more so in the last week:

• sharp twinges in my crotch/pelvic area
• sore boobs (again!)
• vivid dreams
• sharp cramps which I am guessing is Braxton Hicks - never felt them with my first but they were so bad last night they woke me up mid-sleep
• a LOT more pressure down below, definitely feel like baby has dropped
• breathlessness
• back aches/sharp shooting pains in my back (specifically my mid-back, not lower back)

I haven't even got my ELCS date yet and I still have another two weeks left of work but I'm so convinced that baby will be making an early appearance.
Are all of the above indicators that baby may be arriving earlier or is it all just pretty "normal" for the last few weeks?

@Jusmakingit
Id definitely say its worth getting a birthing ball, or even and exercise ball!
I feel you so much on the baby movements!
My last pregnancy/labor was such a dream, she was born at 39 weeks, 6hrs from start to finish, honest it was the perfect labor! I had no signs of labor though, my waters just literally burst in bed. I think that's why I'm being impatient because I'm comparing or convincing myself I'm going to go 2weeks over have the most horrendous labor ect ect 😂 I'm going nuts with it!

I wish there was a hard and fast rule for predicting when they were coming 🙈!

I’m 37+2 and had to go in for reduced movements last night. Thankfully all was fine but, the midwife had to dig right into my lower pelvis and told me all she was getting was shoulder so it seems most of her head is in my pelvis. Don’t I know it with the amount of times I’m going to the toilet!

My actual midwife told me 2nd babies tend not to engage until they’re actually ready unlike 1st babies who can sit for ages but who actually knows 🙈

Oh me too 😅 I just want it to happen! I can't take the exhaustion anymore!
Oh that sounds promising, but also not fun at the same time, the pressure on our poor lady parts! Hopefully not long for you!

I had no sign really with either. Everything you describe I wld say is just normal when ur that far along. However, it is prob a gd idea to have ur bag ready!

They said I was very favourable at my sweep at due date. She was still a week late and only induced as blood pressure kept going through the roof.

I was supposed to be having elcs too with second at some point in 39th week but didn't have a date. My waters broke in bed one night with absolutely NO warning and full on painful contractions started within 10mins. That was at 37wks and I did not have my bag packed 🙈 but I did have stuff ready for baby. Wasn't fun though trying to find stuff to pack while having contractions!

Oh gosh sounds like a few of us are in the same boat or have been in similar!

Anybody believe that toddlers can sense that change is imminent? DS1 is coming on 3 years old and his behaviour in the last three days has been horrendous! Terrible tantrums and one second full of cuddles and clingyness, the next it's "go away mummy". It's driving me mad 😳🤷🏽‍♀️

@jHarls Thank you and hope you’re not kept waiting too long either!
The tiredness is real and don’t think my back has ever felt so broken 😂
It’s a good job they’re worth it with everything we go through!

@FebMama Absolutely! My DS is coming up 3 and has been the same. Extremely clingy and refusing to allow his daddy to do anything for him. The minute I’m out of sight he’s crying and shouting for me, even if I just go to get a quick drink and food! He’s also decided he doesn’t want a nap anymore, despite clearly still needing one, so I don’t get any chance to rest in the day 🙈.

Had these symptoms from about 33 weeks and had baby at 36 weeks, however someone else I was due at the same time as had the same symptoms from same time and they went to 40 weeks. Impending labour and late pregnancy symptoms seem to cross so much!

Halloumi22 · 04/01/2023 11:44

Well I’ve just tried to eat and ended up vomiting it all back up immediately after I’d finished. Please someone let this baby come out soon 😂

Jusmakingit · 04/01/2023 12:32

Please can i go next ? I am being very impatient but i am ready (i promise) and i can leave in about 10 mins ..... if only it was that easy lol i just want the baby to be early (im 35+4 or something like that) so i dont have to be induced or c section. Commmeeee oonnn natural labour !!!

FebMama · 04/01/2023 18:22

@Jusmakingit you're opposite to me! I'm 35 weeks and as much as I feel achey and fed up, I need baby to stay put until I'm due my ELCS!

@Halloumi22 oh no sorry to hear! Hope you're feeling ok ☺️
