Hi.I'm 14 weeks today and my normal jeans are getting too tight and uncomfortable around the waist area.I'm looking for something warm and affordable to get me through the winter.Any recommendations?Found some thermal leggings on New Look website are they any good? Thanks

Buy a couple of dresses that you can wear with tights/leggings and chunky cardigan for now and then without for spring/summer

I second dresses. I've gone for woolly or sweatshirt dresses so they have a bit of warmth and I wear them with tights and boots. They're easy to wear and fairly loose so nice and comfy and should last me as I grow. I've tried various maternity leggings and haven't found the quality to be that great without paying a small fortune which I'm keen to avoid for just a few months. The best I've found are love leggings. The every day ones are nice and thick and also do a winter pair although I've not tried them. At 22 weeks, I'm quite enjoying the over bump ones now in this cold weather.

Love Leggings although pricey are the best maternity leggings - thick, comfortable and fit well. Come in a variety of colours.
Long Jumpers.
H and m mamas clothes are good, I got quite a few long sleeved tops that are also nursing tops for after. And they do stretchy loungewear that can also be used after birth as they aren't just designed for a huge bump e.g. fold down waist band.
Tesco or cheaper retailer Jumpers in a larger size / jumper dresses.

I second the love leggings! They are by far the best leggings. I have just bought the jeggings so will see how well they fit!

Thanks I don't mind paying for Love leggings.Would you recommend the winter one or the normal one?Thank you.

H&M and a few other places do maternity jeans. H&M ones have a stretchy bit of material that covers most of your belly so acts as an extra layer unlike other brands that just give you a stretchy waistband. I thought they were super comfy even though I hate H&M's normal jeans & wore them my whole pregnancy. Pricey though!

@LovelyNanny26 to be honest... depends where you are based and how cold it gets. I just went for the normal ones and they do fine for me in Ireland :)

Bananabreakfast123 · 29/12/2022 12:16

@LovelyNanny26 I've gone for the normal ones and find them to be okay for warmth. Pre-pregnancy I mostly wore sweaty betty power which are a more sporty, sweat wicking material whereas the love leggings are 95% cotton and I find they keep the warmth a lot better but might depend what you're used to.

Dorothy Perkins maternity jeans - bought mine reduced to £10 and live between them and leggings. Lots of layers - vests, long sleeved t-shirt tops can be used across all seasons, stick a normal cardi on top (doesn't haven't to be maternity one, just any old on in your existing wardrobe if you have them)! Snuggly scarves are also good for adding extra warmth, even inside.

Lots of 2nd hand bundles of maternity wear on eBay and vinted.

I wore under the bump mat jeans all winter, and dungarees are good too as they don't fall down. Check out ebay; some stuff is new but faulty (my jeans were slightly damaged at the bottom of one leg, which i wasn't bothered about), so it comes at a decent price

Jellybean2023 · 29/12/2022 12:58

@LovelyNanny26 I have a pair of everyday and a pair of luxe ones (bought when it wasn't as cold) I just spotted the fleece lined ones might get another pair although im due to pop in a couple of weeks.
The luxe ones are slightly thicker, I'd probably recommend them and the fleece ones to try. I went up a size but knew my legs would put on a few extra pounds as this is my 2nd pregnancy, so a 12 fits well and I'd normally buy a 10.
