Hi all,

Wondering if I can get some advice. We are expecting twins this coming year and I wonder what is best to put in our room when they are newborn.
I was looking at the Chicco 4 in 1 but having read comments on here I'm no longer sold.
I have limited space but need enough for two and ideally don't want them in the same item so happy to have two moses baskets, two travel cots etc.
Just wanted thoughts and opinions ideally :)

Personally I would get something removable like a Moses basket with twins. Not a side crib that’s heavy or attached.

That way if your having a night with both constantly waking each other, one of you can easily take one baby and Moses basket into spare room or downstairs to living room a few hours.

We only had 1 child, but the chicco was a bit of a pain tbh.
A) I couldn’t get in and out bed easily the first few weeks with it after birth when stomach muscles shot, so dh had on his side so I didn’t have to slide down the bed to get out.
b) Dh works from home. When small it would have been handy to be able to move Moses basket into office so dh could watch when napping whilst I did stuff in garden. He napped in bouncer instead those times.
c) we used main cot from 4 months in our room. As Ds could sit up and pull himself up and over top of chicco. So it was dangerous. Pretty expensive for just 4 months use

I would probably get one of these now as larger than old Moses baskets and super light.

We had two sidecar cots for the first couple of weeks. Very cute lined up next to the bed, but I was a bit worried about duvet creep.

On midwife's advice we put them in together instead, in a massive Boori cot with lots of room to have one at each end. They were visibly comforted by the other's presence and slept beautifully from that point. At about six months we bought another matching cot and put them next to each other in their own room, where they have been ever since.

We had the sidecars from family but if I had my time again I would go straight to the big cot - it does have to be big though or you will worry about them rolling into each other.

Although that might just be ours - we had an incher who would wriggle across half the cot in search of milk from day one.

Thank you it's nice to hear feedback from someone with real experience.
That does look like a lovely moses basket. I think they scare me as they essentially balance on a stand 😂!
I have it in my saved list. :).

We used a single Moses basket with them one at each end downstairs but put one of the cots in our room and they slept side by side for quite a long time, they were decent size babies too, about 7lbs each at birth but still fitted nicely, they liked being next to each other

I have seen two Moses baskets at an angle used inside one main cot. That way you can use downstairs in day on floor, move upstairs at night. No stands needed. Like this picture

And recommend setting up second cot already in babies bedroom. Means you have somewhere safe to quickly place one or both in their room whilst changing the other etc

Ah that's clever. We are having cots set up in nursery before they arrive. So that will all be ready :). Thank you.

We used two next to me cribs. For a while and they slept in the same one so we had one downstairs and one upstairs. But i seperate Ed them at about 6 weeks and had them both attached my side. I didn't have a csection so there was no bother asking my husband to move so I could get out of his side.

Hi , congratulations 🥰
We had a cot in our room and they slept side by side for a while then head to toe. So cute. We then transferred them straight to separate cots. We didn't have moses baskets due to limited space, we used the pram basinets as somewhere they could sleep downstairs. Just on the floor as they were or attached to the pram.

We did the one large cot by the bed with the two Moses baskets slotted into it too. Worked really well when they were both small enough to fit in the Moses baskets.

Also our twins did not wake each other. They found each other to be a comfort.

Swissnotswiss · 29/12/2022 08:22

We started off with both in the same cot with a divider but my dd woke everyone up. We ended up using 2 cots and moving dd into a different room as she slept better.

We did this too. Our room wasn't big enough to have two baskets safely in with us. We fed them then they went into their own room with both doors open we could always hear them and it worked so much better than clambering around the bedroom in the night

We had the cot next to our bed too. They started off next to each other then head to head 😊
We were originally going to use two Moses baskets, which worked well when we stayed elsewhere but ours liked being snuggled up together 😍

not my experience but my aunty’s. Firstly multiples or not nursery isn’t the focus. It’s such an unused room for the first 6 months! We set up chair and changing table in our room. Definitely found changing table amazing for my back.

my aunt did two babies in one big cot. And the boys aged 9 still share a room now.

FlowerLilyFix · 29/12/2022 09:03

Sorry didn’t finish. She set up a travel cot downstairs for day time naps. After 6 months they both slept upstairs.

Caspianberg · 29/12/2022 09:19

We used our nursery a lot actually even before Ds slept in it. It was handy having changing area, clothing, etc all in one place that wasn’t cluttering living room.

We hadn’t painted or decorated as had other big renovation on. And tbh it was then a right pain trying to find time to paint and lay flooring with a then 10 month old. Would have been far easier before baby arrived.
