Hi everyone,

i'm in a bit of a dilemma.. i've coincidentally been away for the last 5 days, during which my husband hasn't been feeling great (temperature, cough, snotty nose and sore throat). I was supposed to come home today and asked him to test just in case. Turns out he has Covid..

We also have a two year old daughter who he has been looking after. She wasn't well 2 weeks ago and in hindsight were wondering if she had covid then and has passed it on to my husband (but then wouldn i have it too?).

Anyway long story short: were not sure what to do: have my husband and daughter isolate together (which is going to be pretty hard on my husband also i'll miss out on Christmas with my daughter) or have me pick up my daughter and spend Christmas together somewhere else..

Only worry is, is that if she hasnt had it yet, she may have been infected by him already and will then pass it on to me in the next few days (and the rest of the family!)...

i really really don't want to get covid at this time in my pregnancy. Worried about the complications eventhough I've had all the boosters. When I last had covid in march 22 (also after being fully vaccinated) i felt terrible and had a high temperature for 4 days. Just can't imagine how terrible i'd feel being this far along in the pregnancy..

Any advice?

Can you postpone Xmas for a few days and see what happens. Is there somewhere else you can stay?

@SomeBeings thanks for your response.

I could stay somewhere else until after Christmas and see how things develop in the next few days. I just really miss my daughter and hate the thought of us all spending Christmas alone (no one wants me at their Christmas table next to Granny now that i could potentially also be a 'carrier' 👀). But you might be right that it's the only option weve got..

I think you have to look after yourself, stay away and have your family Christmas Day a little late. Chances are he maybe a few more days into covid. I know 4 people who’ve had covid in the last couple of weeks, 3 were quite ill.

I would maybe try stay away if possible- my 6 year old recently gave me covid for a 2nd time at 32 weeks pregnant & it wasn’t nice I thought my 1st time having it was bad but this felt like the worse flu & also just the panicking of having it while pregnant- not to panic you though as I am fine now took about 4-5 days bed rest & baby is also absolutely fine.

Thanks for your replies. Think you're all probably right...

@Bobbi7 Glad to hear you're better now and the baby is fine! Doesn't sound nice at all!! I mean, even a cold when pregnant can feel terrible, so i can only imagine what the flu or Covid would feel like... no thank you!

Looks like I'm in for a lonely Christmas... best stock up on the chocolate ;)

I did end up staying by myself for Christmas today.. not a great Christmas..

Now wondering when it's 'safe' to see my daughter again?

i know i can't see my husband until he is at least 24hr symptom free after 5 days (today is day 5) or after a minimum of 10days if he still has symptoms.

But my daughter has been with him all week, and he's been infectious all this time.. if she tests negative tomorrow or Tuesday can we safely say she hasnt got it?

She was sick with a cough, sore throat, cold and temp last week, so he mightve even got it from her.. but we don't know cause we didnt test her.

I know incubation time is about 5-6 days on average, so since my husbands on day 5, will we have a low risk of infection if she tests negative tomorrow? Or do we count 5-6 days from the moment my husband is better?

I really really miss her and have never been away from her this long. I'm not sure what to do and if i need to wait longer to see her
to make sure she doesnt get it and pass it on to me?

I'm so confused and sick of being without my family! But also worried of being infected and potentially putting this pregnancy at risk. Any tips are greatly welcome.

and merry christmas to you all!

Sorry you had to spend Christmas Day on your own but glad your DH is feeling better. Can your DH test again today, day 5 and see if he’s negative, then hopefully you should be ok going back home.

@Mindymomo thanks for your reply!

He is still testing positive unfortunately.. my daughter and I still negative. I think i'm just going to go and see her tomorrow (and have my husband isolate himself somewhere else).

I feel with the infection rates the way they are at the moment, i could also get it in the supermarket or from my daughter at another stage via her nursery..
