Cyclezine

Hi, I'm 6 weeks pregnant and already quite sick. I've managed to get a prescription of cyclezine today. This is baby number 3 and I was on cyclezine with baby number 2.
My initial experience with it with baby number 2 was that it didn't work. However, when I took it for longer I found it was actually really good.
I'm just reading about it again and the NHS listing seems that it should be fast acting? Have I made this up that it has to kind of build up in your system? Today all it has done is made me sleep and I've still been nauseous and sick.
Has anyone else thought it wasn't working but then if they stuck it out it worked later on? I'm sure this was the case with baby 2 but I'm feeling like I've dreamt it all now.

Yes, you need to build it up over a few days, plus you need to keep taking even when you feel better to keep the sickness away.

Hope you feel better soon!

I started taking it yesterday, I'm 7 weeks and been feeling awful. It's definitely taken the edge off and I can function a bit more but I'm still nowhere near feeling normal!

Keep taking it, but of you're still bad in a week then go back. I found that with each pg my sickness got worse so I had to try different combinations of drugs.

The IV stuff worked great. The tablets didn't do much for me.

Thank you @Dogmum11 I really thought this was the case but was doubting my own experience when I read the NHS website 🙈. Last time I remember stopping it to see if things were better and throwing up in my car... so it definitely kept the sickness at bay last time and hoping it can do the same this time!

@Animallover87 I hope it kicks in for us both soon.

@YellowHpok I worry this may be the case here too. DS 1 I had nausea and food aversions, DS 2 sickness and nausea and this baby with it even earlier. Hopefully I'll find something that works. It's hard to care for 2 littles when I'm feeling like this. Luckily is Xmas holidays and DH is at home but would like it sorted for when I go back to work 🤞

Fingers crossed! Although if not deffo go back and keep going back. I’m on a combination of 3 different anti-sickness meds, have been hospitalised twice and still throwing up at 35 weeks but I dread to think how bad it would have been without the tablets every day!

Follow up question if anyone is still following?
I'm actually starting to feel a bit better on it now and am only being sick once in the morning. But I am sooooooo tired. I can't remember it affecting me like this last time. Will I get used to it? I don't want to stop taking it because I am feeling a lot less sick now but I would like to remain awake sometimes also 😂

It's making me tired too. And I still feel really nauseous 😭

loveandwarmth · 24/12/2022 16:13

Ah I'm sorry! It's working better for me. I'm still feeling nauseous but it's kind of like an underlying nauseousness that I can live with whereas before I felt like I couldn't move or I would be sick 😂. I'm not keen on food really. I'm eating because I have to but not really fancying anything at all!
