Pregnant or miscarriage hormones? Positive test after negative test.

I had a mmc in October which was treated with medical management which didn't work and I ended up having a D&C 4 weeks ago on November 24th 2022. We were told to try again when we felt ready provided I had a negative test.

I only took one test following the miscarriage about 10 days later (around 3rd December) - it was a clear blue digital early one (the only test I had in the house) and it said 'not pregnant'. This was in the afternoon with very dilute urine.

I then had a peak OPK around 8 days ago.

Fast forward to today and I've been having cramps on and off for 2 days. For some reason (I know I'm crazy) I decided to test again. Also with very dilute urine and it came up faintly positive - similar to the time I got a bfp at 10dpo. Now I'm wondering whether:

1. This is a false positive caused by me still having some hcg in my system that the clear blue digital wasn't sensitive enough to pick up but the first response test is.

2. I'm pregnant again and somehow am already getting positive tests really early.

Any thoughts? I'll test again tomorrow and if it's a strong positive I'll speak to my GP to see what they think. I'm not hugely hopeful but it is a bit strange.

@stardust1994 hopefully it’s soon for you! I didn’t have any cramps so it just happened all of a sudden so may be the case for you.

I was, I’m a 94 baby. It will be our first baby, but sadly we’ve had 2 losses this year so I’m hoping this is our time 🤞

Fingers crossed! I’ve had cramps on and off for weeks now, nothing major but enough to make me think I’m about to get my period and then be disappointed when it doesn’t come.

Sorry to hear you’ve had 2 losses, it’s so sad and also frustrating how much time it takes to get back to normal afterwards. I’ve only had one but I’m a bit apprehensive because I never got my period back after stopping the pill. I had 6 months of nothing and then was pregnant.. so strange. So now I’m hoping it’s not another 6 months of nothing.

Would be nice to keep in touch and hopefully we’ll both be lucky this time round 😊

Since we spoke and I have my period, we’ve been trying. Today, I decided to take a FRER test and I have a faint line.

What are your thoughts?

My situation is not very exciting.. after the positive OPKs in December and a temp. shift my period never came but no BFP either. It's now been 8 weeks since my D&C.

I have had more positive OPKs last week and a temp shift again. It's exactly 1 month since this happened in December. Really hoping that at the very least I get a period this time as I'm starting to worry tbh!

Oh and I had a blood test for my hcg. It's been very slow! It took 10 days to go from 21 to 15 🤦‍♀️ The 15 was two weeks ago so hoping it's close to zero now.

@stardust1994 these are the same tests which we’re giving me faint line 2 days before my period came. Do you think it is a potential pregnancy? As I’ve now had a period.

Mine was quite slow to come down too! It should be close to zero now so hopefully you get your period soon 🤞 I’ve got everything crossed for you to conceive soon xx

Sorry @Gee94 , I can't see the image for some reason. I reckon it's highly likely it is a pregnancy to be honest. Can't imagine a FRER being a positive weeks after a period. When was your period?

I'd love to magically get pregnant before my period but tbh at this rate I'll settle for the period or any semblance of a return to normality 😂 gotta laugh or else I'd cry!

@stardust1994 I hope it is a positive test! My period was 29th Dec and lasted 5 days. I guess I take another test maybe on Friday?

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I waited 6 weeks for mine and was hoping to catch before it. Either way it’s a positive because if you get pregnant before it, that’s amazing but if your period comes at least you’ll know exactly where you’re at. Please keep me updated with your journey, I’m sure it will happen for both of us soon x

@Gee94 So I guess today would be CD21 for you. Early for a positive test but not if it's a super sensitive one and also you might have ovulated early.

I'll keep you updated. When I get my period I'll practically be throwing a party 🤣
