Hi

I am 17 weeks pregnant and in serious need of relaxing and trying to enjoy my pregnancy. I have booked an appointment next week with a reflexologist trained in maternity reflexology when I will be 18 weeks. Has anyone tried refexology at a similiar point in their pregnancy and was it beneficial. Please can someone also put my mind rest that I will not be putting my baby in any danger by having this treatment at this point.

Thanks

I had it all through my pregnancy. I told the woman as soon as I suspected I was pregnant and she made subtle alterations in what she did to ensure no risk. It is great to have that relaxation, and especially so when pregnant. I didn't make it to term, but was told that she has a very good record of helping women in the last weeks and avoiding induction etc.

Had it through my 1st 2 pregs - lovely! Not before 3 mths, but you're past that now.

The relaxation is fab fab fab, and if your reflexologist is experienced with maternity treatments, then just sit back and relax

I did a course, years ago, and it was my reflexology teacher who actually told me I was pregnant with dd1 before I knew, just from looking at my feet

In the hands of a skilled practitioner should be no problem. They know how to avoid points which trigger contractions.

However, good traditional chinese practitioners will not do it. I live in Asia and all chinese ladies I spoke to avoid it.
They say stimulation of organs is likely to release not only chi (energy) but also toxins in the blood.

So basically, if you are in a period of low immunity, it might trigger a cold or other minor ailments or simply make you feel very tired for the next couple of days.

Its Fab, had it with DS2 saving to have it again with DS3, no side effects actually really helped with horrible pg symptoms,

Enjoy

Hi

Many thanks for your replies. I have decided for the moment to hold off on the treatment because of my misgivings. I hope to revisit the idea when I am a little further along. It really does sound great I just don't think I'm confident enough in my pregnancy just yet. I would just be worrying about it and there's no point in that is there. It kinda defeats the object!

Thanks again.
