It’s now over 2 weeks and I haven’t heard back. I’ve been calling and calling but can never get through. It feels very ‘lonely’ in a way.. what are others experience with this?

@DD0923 is this for your midwife appt? I did mine a week ago and haven’t heard back either, if I don’t hear after Christmas I guess I’ll have to ring🤣 how far along are you?

Imisscoffee2021 · 12/12/2022 14:12

@DD0923 I tried to tell my gp and they didn't get back to me, I messaged again (can't call them they only do online forms now but are usually good at getting back) nothing, and only when I messaged a third time days later explicitly stating as I'm on thyroxine I need my meds increased as I'm pregnant did they get in touch with a higher dose prescription and a link to self register with my local hospital, not once did I see a GP to confirm pregnancy. My friend in a different county got tests done to confirm before the gp referred her to a midwife. Thankfully once I self referred the maternity unit were fast in getting my booking in appointment sorted, Hooe you don't have to wait too long!

Hope you hear something soon. What happens when you call the numbers OP?

OrcaBlondie · 12/12/2022 14:45

How many weeks are you? I didn’t hear until I was around 10w and that was after I chased. A lot of midwife teams are very stretched.

ProserpinaProserpina · 12/12/2022 14:50

I can only speak for my Trust but we are at breaking point right now. If you haven’t heard by 10 weeks, give them a call or send them an email. Otherwise sit tight. It’s quite common for women to put in referrals at 3/4/5 weeks. We won’t action those until at least 6 or 7 weeks because early pregnancy is so unreliable. We waste too many slots if we book the appointments too early and unfortunately due to unpredictable staffing levels it’s really hard to plan more than a week or so in advance.

Catsonskis · 12/12/2022 15:02

I was under MFT for my first pregnancy, as long as you’ve submitted the form you won’t here back until 8 weeks minimum, more likely 10 weeks when they’ll offer you a booking in appt

ifnyou don’t hear by 10 weeks, call PALS. X

ProserpinaProserpina · 12/12/2022 15:10

You don’t need to call PALS. Just ring the unit or the relevant community midwives. All PALS will do is pass the message on. They are usually just a middleman unless you don’t know who you need to talk to.

Depends how far gone you are. If you're only 6 weeks then you won't be a priority yet. If you're 10 weeks however then chase it up.

Happychapp · 12/12/2022 18:16

I don't know if this still works but in 2020 with my son this email was the one to get in touch with: [email protected] Might not still work but thought I'd share.

I’ve chosen a different but very local trust to yours and have also been waiting two weeks to hear back (I’m eight weeks). Spoken to friends in the same trust as you and they said it was quite a wait, too but they did get in touch with them in the end. So frustrating, isn’t it?!
