Christmas with brand new baby

Hi I’m looking for advice from people with experience of this! I’m booked in for an elective c-section on 20th December and am wondering about Christmas plans.

At the moment our plan is to go to my in-laws who live about 3 minutes away and we’re really close to. They will wait on me hand and foot and we’re planning to formula feed from birth so there should be no awkwardness with breastfeeding etc. They have recliner sofas and I’m hoping I’ll only have to get up to eat and go to the loo.

I guess my question is, does this seem realistic? This is my first baby and I have no idea what to expect! Obviously we’ll be absolutely shattered but we figured we can come home if it gets too much.

Thanks!

After a c section the most important thing for recovery is movement. Sitting ona sofa all day won't help the incision to heal. If you'll be happy and comfy at theirs then that should be fine for thr pov of not being in your own home

Sounds perfect if they'll genuinely let you sit all day. You should be on your feet so can get there, and actually it'll be less work for you than if you stay home. Go for it! I cooked lunch for us three weeks after a C sec with twins. Fucking ridiculous. Enjoy being looked after

Sounds ideal! Good luck and hope you have a lovely Christmas x

Sounds like a good set up - you'll need the support and if you're like me, you might find it nice to be around people in the early days.

You will bleed after a csection so don't forget plenty of pads. You might be more comfortable if you had your own bathroom (if they have more than one) so you can keep everything you need to hand. If it were me, I'd also take my own blanket for sitting on the sofa in case I leaked (sorry if that's TMI but it's the sort of thing I'd worry about)

Otherwise, it honestly sounds lovely.

I hope your csection goes well - I had an ELCS last Christmas as it was a wonderful experience xx

Completely doable, especially since you're so local anyway. You'll still be sore by day 5, but sounds like you'll be treated well. This all assumes you and your baby are well of course. At day 5 we were battling tongue tie, jaundice etc with one of ours. Good luck! I'm in for my 3rd section on 09 Jan!
