Sunbathing?

Currently on holiday and it’s 27+ degrees, I’m a bit nervous to sunbathe… I’m trying to go in the sea if I get a bit too hot but is lying in the sun ok? Think I’m worried as I know you’re advised not to use hot tubs, have hot baths etc

Sunbathing does not raise your core temperature. Being immersed in very hot water does. It's fine. Obviously wear sunscreen and a hat for your own protection, and the usual stay in the shade between 11 and 2 advice, but other than that, it's good for your vitamin D levels!

Pregnant or not it is unsafe to lie in the sun, skin cancer

Fine to sunbathe (safely) but when I was pregnant I burnt far more easily than before, so would recommend being extra vigilant with suncream/shade etc

As PP's have said, keep on top of your sunscreen. I'm very pale so it might be different for you but after a weekend away in a sunny city I got chloasma (when sun exposed areas get darker in a patchy way). It lasted for the rest of my pregnancy and about a year after. My face was the worst but I also had patches on my arms.

You burn more easily and might get discolouration but no risk to baby at all. Obv keep hydrated, cool off if you need it. All of us should avoid sun for hottest part of day

As above, you’ll burn much more easily so keep on top of your sunscreen, go for a higher spf than usual and just be aware of it. I never usually burn, ever, but burnt the hell out of my shoulders one beach day when I was about 6 months pregnant… serves me right for being complacent about my sunscreen after swimming!

No risk to the baby aside from losing their mother to skin cancer.
