Am I in labour?

36 weeks & 3 days pregnant with my 3rd DD and I've got no clue if Im in labour or not. Had two induced labours (2017 and 2021) so I have no idea what it feels like to go into labour naturally as my induced labours went very much from 0 to 10000 almost instantly. I felt like baby dropped down into my pelvis about 2 days ago, I can feel her head resting very low down. Then last night I was woken at 3am with what I thought were braxton hicks, but these went on till 5am and then just seemed to stop. Then they started again today between 11am-1pm and then stopped. Then again 3pm-5pm and those ones were every 10 mins and moderately painful, and then they stopped. And now they've started again at 7pm, same pain intensity but still same distance apart. No idea if this is the start of labour or not and really trying to avoid going in to the maternity assessment unit unless I absolutely need to, as they're very busy and it's often a 4 hour minimum wait. Also got a lot of pelvic pressure and lightening pains up my cervix when I try to walk too much.

I know with low dependancy pregnancies you don't go to the hospital till contractions are regular and less than 5 mins apart but being high dependancy I'm supposed to go in as soon as labour starts and/or my waters go (which I don't think they have)

Xx

@EllieRosesMammy how are you this morning?

EllieRosesMammy · 13/12/2022 07:33

Sorry I'm late to update and thank you everyone for the concern❤️

Still on going with these contractions and pains but MAU said they'd take a wait and see approach since as baby's movements are fine and my obs are good. The doctors words were "we can't say what it is for definite but we can say what it's not..." helpful🙄

Had another scan yesterday and baby is still measuring just below the 90th centile (7lb 9oz at 36 weeks and 5 days 😬), we see the consultant today to find out what the plan is. I don't fancy going to 40+ weeks if she's already the same size my other daughters were born at 😂

Saw the consultant, as baby is still measuring big for gestational age they're inducing me at 39 weeks😁 woo only 2 more weeks to go! (or less if I go naturally instead) x

At least you have a end goal date now, how exciting.

Very jealous that will get cosy newborn cuddles.

Hi all, I'm good, 38 weeks today and still getting those bloody annoying contractions and lightning pains but all they tell me is its normal and can happen weeks before baby is due🤦‍♀️ however as baby is LGA (large for gestational age) they're inducing me at 39 weeks on the 28th December!! So one more week to go 😁❤️

Wow we are so close in due dates. My due date is 6th jan
But I have the feeling he will come early, 6th baby !!!!!

Wish you all the best, would be awesome if he can come naturally without induction before next week.. ...

Aww hope baby comes early for you! I've never gone naturally so I only know what induced births are like anyway, I would of liked to experience the whole natural thing but even if I went to 40 weeks I reckon I'd still end up being induced. My body doesn't give them up easily 😅 x
