Help! Is macrobid safe in EARLY first trimester? Need stories

I know I’m asking for anecdotal data here but i have had a uti since Sunday. It’s now Friday morning (early). It’s getting better but not gone away so I was Rxd macrobid and was eager to take it to get the infection gone until I read the risks and some white paper studies about how it IS linked to major birth defects. I was on a lawsuit website reading hundreds of comments from women who took it in pregnancy and either had a miscarriage or their baby had horrible heart/brain/limb defects.

Naturally this is now the last thing I want to put into my body. I have to get pregnant thru IVF so this blessing doesn’t come easily and the thought of risking this precious life is not worth it so I’m trying d-mannose for another day or two as a last ditch effort to see if it goes away on its own. If it doesn’t I’ll take the macrobid but I was hoping for any stories of women who took it EARLY in the first trimester and their baby was perfectly healthy and unaffected… thank you!

It's nitrofuritoin which is 1st line treatment for uti in the uk. It's safe in pregnancy.
I had it twice in pregnancy. Once at 4 weeks for cystitis and again at 17 weeks for a uti. My baby was born perfectly healthy.

If you Google enough you will find anecdotal stories about everything being unsafe in pregnancy.
If you're ever unsure then check on the BUMPS website.

UTIs are very common in pregnancy and sadly, adverse outcomes are quite common too. Put those two together and you're going to have quite a few women who took nitrofurantoin and who purely coincidentally had an adverse outcome later in pregnancy. Especially if you are actively acting as a beacon for people who are sad and grieving and want someone to blame, because you're a law firm specialising in medical claims.

The research shows that nitrofurantoin is safe to take in pregnancy and that is much more reliable. It is your choice to take it, you don't have to. But you can take it in confidence.

I took nitrofurantoin for 6 years, including almost every day during two pregnancies. (I swapped to Cefalexin for the last few weeks of each pregnancy as nitro can in theory cause some platelet issues if taken shortly before birth. My nephrologist felt the risk of that was tiny but we changed anyway.)
Both babies - now primary school aged - were and are absolutely fine.
UTI more of a risk to pregnancy than the antibiotics, generally speaking.
