HPV test in pregnancy

Hi all,
I just wanted to ask can I take a HPV swab test in pregnancy and would the results be accurate? If not then why not?
I have already done a smear, came out negative but I have read the HPV swab test checks for more dangerous strains than the NHS smear.
Also anyone who had HPV positive managed to get rid of it after 2 years?

Where did you read that?

Primary HPV screening looks for high risk HPV so if negative - a normal result - you can relax. Even if you had high risk HPV with no cellular changes you would just be recalled for a smear in one year. There is no treatment for HPV.

Even if you had borderline cell changes the chances of them doing anything about it in pregnancy is very low - they’d wait until after delivery and reassess.

The smear test does test for HPV. Your body can typically get rid of HPV in a couple of years so 'enhanced' tests won't do anything.

I tested positive for HPV for 2 consecutive years before I fell pregnant, but no cancerous cells so just had to go back the next year. I had to wait for this year one a few months as they won't do it within a certain time frame of giving birth. It was negative.

I tested positive for HpV and cleared it myself within a year when I was retested. I'm due an updated smear in March but I'm pregnant so will postpone for a few months until baby is born.

The risks of developing cancer from HPV take years so I don't think delaying is an issue as long as you book it when you can x

Thankyou ladies, glad that you got rid of the virus, hopefully if I do have HPV I would be able to get rid of it too within 2 years x
I'm just nervous I suppose and my anxiety is playing up :(
