had a show last night at 36ish weeks- asked my midwife about it this morning and she said to ignore it- however i (and everyone i've asked- including the obstetrician at the hospital and all websites i've looked at) thought that it was a sign labour may start in the next few days or so. anyone know anything about it???

I personally think that you should take it easy for the next few days! Trust your instincts!

I'd say no. I had mine last wednesday and nothing has happened since!!

Dd was born 2 weeks after show

BearMama · 01/02/2008 15:53

to echo cadelaide, was advised at ante-natal class that a show was nothing to get excited about and labour could be two weeks later. It was described as something like "The beginning of the move towards the start of labour" IYSWIM!

cadelaide- did you have loads of braxton hicks along side the show? lucyand2- have you been having braxton hicks too?

yes I did, I really thought labour was imminent!

All my babies were born within 12hours of my having a show. However, with them all I was overdue so that might make a difference.

14hrs after show for me too but I was 40+5

Hi! I had a show at 1am on the saturday morning but nothing followed!! I was already in hospital for other pregancy related reasons and was induced on the Monday evening and DS was born at 11.50am on Tuesday - so a show didn't mean labour for me!! Take it easy though and listen to your body. Take time for you as there won't be a lot of spare time for you after the baby's born!! Good luck - holding your little bundle is the best feeling ever!!

With DS I woke up at 0500, had a show and then within a few minutes was experiencing contractions.

DS was born at 2351 after a fairly arduous back to back labour.
