Labour after previous c section

Anyone given birth after previously having a c section? Just wondering what it's like is it more painful? where there any complications? Or positive stories would be even better. My last birth ended in emc but I was told that if I got pregnant again I'd have a good chance of giving birth naturally.

I'd recommend following VBAC UK on Facebooks. Lots of positive stories of people achieving a VBAC in subsequent births.

I'm 38 weeks now and I'm a good candidate for VBAC as I laboured spontaneously and got to 10cm but I've chosen an ELCS at 40 weeks.

@Chanel05 I will do that thank you 🙂 where you offered ELC? I'm wondering if I will be given this option, would hate to go through Labour to end up having another emc

I had a VBAC. I was high risk so had to fight to be allowed access to the birthing pool and then I had to get out before the pushing stage. My placenta had adhered to my scar tissue so I had to go to theatre for manual
removal of placenta and I lost quite a lot
of blood.

I had a vbac at the start of the year. My first was elcs for breech. I actually had a cesarean booked in for 41+4, and then I booked an induction for 41+2 - I found c section recovery horrific and kept changing my mind - but did go into labor spontaneously after 2 sweeps at 40+6.

The vbac was fine. I had a very short labour with diamorphine. Baby did have shoulder dystocia (they said due to the speed, we had no risk factors), but they reacted extremely quickly, and it was still only 12 minutes of stage 2 all in. She had a short resuscitation next to me and then she was absolutely fine :) Very hungry immediately lol. I had a deep 2nd degree tear and millions of stitches (i assume because of the arm the dr had to stick up to free her), but it healed easily and quickly, with less than 1% of the pain of the cesarean. I was extremely mobile within hours.

Having never laboured before, I found the pain scary and unexpected. It was in my pelvic bone alone, possibly due to the numbness I still have on my stomach from the cesarean. I consider myself very lucky with my vbac, and would 100% do it again if we could afford more kids!

I had a VBAC 2 years after my section. Had a very quick labour with no complications. It was bloody brilliant

@K37529 I've had several consultant appointments in this pregnancy to discuss my birth options and my consultant has been great with allowing me to choose and supporting my decision. When I said I was opting for a section he just wrote the referral there and then to email to gynae admissions.

VBAC here too and once in established labour it all went very quickly and well. They were very conscious that I’d had an emergency section previously and were set to do the same at the slightest issue. All went smoothly though.
