Passing out in third trimester

Hi all, currently on the maternity ward for the night, I've had episodes of completely passing out since around 27 weeks, im now 30+4, I had another a week later and they have since increased in frequency until becoming daily the past few days, drs/midwifes have been pretty laid back about it until today I had to come in to be monitored after a small bleed (turned out to just be cervix irritation) whilst being monitored I had two more episodes close together actually witnessed by the midwives and doctors as well as seeing that little ones heart rate dropped in response

I have been kept in with some tests and blood tests and am waiting to see the doctors in the morning to try and get some answers or a plan

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this in pregnancy? Any ideas what the plan to deal with it could be?

I had this with my first pregnancy from around 22 weeks. Carted off to hospital on a number of occasions and lots of tests. nothing ever found that was conclusive. The consensus seemed to be that it was the baby lying on my vagus nerve that triggered it. He ended up quite a large baby and was back to back when he was born. It was very hard to manage with the unpredictability of the fainting.
I gave up driving for the duration and showered instead of bathed. I had to leave work early, though they let me have it as sick leave instead of forcing early maternity. My husband worked away and I lived on my own in a fourth floor flat with no lift. I ended up staying with different relatives for a week or so at a time, or having friends come to stay with me. I feel for you,, it was a worrying and isolating time. It felt like I had lost all control over things. The medical help I got was basically surgical stockings to help prevent my blood pressure from dropping and being told not to get dehydrated. and that was about it. But I suppose I wasn't really ill, just keeled over every so often! The good news is that two subsequent pregnancies were very different.

Meant to add my tests included heart scan and monitoring and all was fine. I hope you get some answers and reassuarnce soon.

I have, unfortunately I have issues with dropping blood pressure and tachycardia so it happens to me when I'm not pregnant too. I think I have pots.
Once anything serious was ruled out (via heart scan) they weren't concerned at all. Just said to get checked if I fell on my stomach during the third tri.
I never had monitoring just after an episode so don't know what my babies heart rates were doing. They did often have tachycardia when monitored at routine appointments, all born healthy though.

Agree with pp though about making sure you're well hydrated though and avoiding showers/humid environments if possible.

Did the doctors give you a sick note or were they unconcerned and leaving it up to you to arrange with work yourself?

I can't recall needing a sick note, but it was 12 years ago and in Scotland. I think that was because one of my more spectacular faints was at work where I passed out a toilet cubicle having thrown my guts up. The first aider then offered to drive me home and I passed out in her car and did not come back round. She diverted to the local hospital and (she told me later) drove straight into the ambulance bay! Some nearby paramedics hauled me out and I woke up on a trolley in resus with monitors and wires everywhere. Think I scared the life out of the poor woman! It also helped that the HR woman had had a really difficult HG pregnancy and so was very sympathetic about not making me start my ML early.

I think work had seen I was a demonstrable liability! and was safer for all concerned to be at home. My work involved a lot of site work and it was obvious that wasn;t a good idea at all

My work have been really understanding so far especially after an episode at work Monday and then the bleed happening yesterday and which is why I was here for yet more passing out

It's just because it's a large company that they are very held to the procedures for everything that I think I'll need a sick note for HR if I was to not return

The doctor doesn't seem to have any answers to the cause of them but after another one this morning and little ones heart rate dropping massively again I'm in hospital for the next 24-48 hours but not sure what the plan would be after that if im honest, I think it may just be managing it as safely as possible and as my work is a car manufacturer I'm not sure that's a safe environment

Was everything okay with your little one? And did things go back to normal for you after you'd given birth?
