Dental x-ray while pregnant

I’m 10+4 & had a dental x-ray at 9+6. I hadn’t been to the dentist in 14 years I never told them I was pregnant(didn’t know I had to) & they done an X-ray of my mouth. I got to reception & was booking my next appointment & was speaking to the woman about my due date & the woman who was doing the X-ray overheard & she said we’re not meant to do X-rays if your pregnant you need to tell us next time & went on to say you’ll be fine just let us know. Has anyone else had them done in early pregnancy I’m worried now I have anxiety around this pregnancy as it is as it’s took us a year & half to conceive after a MMC.

@Blue2020 Thank you! Yes I’m in the UK it’s in 2 weeks I’ve already had 2 scans at 7 & 8 weeks. One was an NHS early scan due to previous MMC & paid for the other privately as I had some spotting I was worried about all was well. I’d be fine if my symptoms were still present but they’ve tapered off since the X-ray last Tuesday now I’m worrying again.

@Rose1111 If you think the two week wait is too long you could go for another private scan for reassurance? I can relate though, when my symptoms dissappeared at 8+5 I went for a private scan at 9 weeks due to the previous mmc and the symptoms going (and the dating scan being four weeks later). My dh said there wasn’t much point but it helped to reassure me in that moment. They then returned at 9+5 for me and got slightly worse.

Don't worry, the risks are miniscule. I had so many x-rays when pregnant (and other tests involving even more radiation, all on my abdomen), had x-ray guided cystoscopy even and x-ray guided nephrostomy! (many many abdominal x-rays taken during these. Though in retrospect I wonder why they didn't use ultrasound to guide instead...) and there were no issues

@Blue2020 I 100% would but they’re like £60 my partner paid for the last one he probably wouldn’t pay for another he doesn’t really get my anxiety & tells me to stop worrying thankfully I have a midwife appointment in 50 minutes so I’ll see what she says & update after

@Natsku thank you I feel much better about the X-ray now just left feeling anxious due to my symptoms tapering off over the last week I’ve heard the placenta takes over around now & symptoms can disappear I just like to have a symptom to reassure me

Feels weird to wish morning sickness on someone but I wish it for you so you can feel less anxious

@Natsku aw thank you lol I hope so too. I only feel nauseous when hungry but I was like that pre-pregnancy I’m sensitive to hunger & need to eat frequently anyway. I spoke to the midwife & she wasn’t too concerned about the X-ray affecting anything & said what I’ve already heard & thought myself that I’m 10+5 so it’s likely symptoms will fade now but I’d still like one lol even just the sore boobs again as that was reassuring me very night I took my bra off lol
