I was standing on the kitchen counter and I noticed a spider and lost my balance and fell off I landed on my feet but I'm worried the impact of falling from so high may harm the baby its my first pregnancy I'm 16 and a half weeks I don't have anyone with experience that I can ask

Not unless you have symptoms of anything being wrong, I'd say no.

OutFortheBirds · 03/12/2022 15:25

If you have bleeding/acute pain go to EP unit. If not, best call 111to be certain OP. Hope all is ok.

Spockrates · 03/12/2022 15:26

@CanYouFeelMyHeart @OutFortheBirds I have no pain but it just happened a few minutes ago I don't know if I'm overreacting I'm a big worrier

It’s OK, it’s your first and you’re going to worry about unknown. I’m in the same boat. If you feel ok, but continue to feel concerned, might be worth getting peace of mind from 111

astronewt · 03/12/2022 15:28

No. You are fine.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 03/12/2022 15:30

You'll likely be all fine. I assume you bent knees so haven't hurt your legs either? I agree that only if you had lots of abdominal pain or bleeding would you need seen. Maybe call your midwife line just for some reassurance? Although I know they might not be open on weekends.

I get it. But hospital is for people with symptoms. You have none, you're fine. They would likely not even see you.

soupmaker · 03/12/2022 15:38

No, you don't.

You do however need to stop standing on kitchen counters.

ofwarren · 03/12/2022 15:39

Why were you stood on the kitchen counter?

RambamThankyouMam · 03/12/2022 16:59

I'm usually the last to say go to hospital, but I think you should. You'll have given the baby a big jolt going from standing on a counter to feet-first onto the floor.

She's 16 weeks, the baby is absolutely tiny and won't really have had a jolt at all. There is absolutely no need for hospital and it would be a massive waste of time for both OP and staff. But also, OP stop standing on counter tops!

gamerchick · 03/12/2022 17:42

No it's fine. You haven't hit your belly and baby has barely popped from the pelvis. You don't need to go to hospital panicking saying you've fell from a kitchen counter onto your feet.

OP your balance will go off at some point. Maybe stop climbing on counter tops.

Really? It's more likely to give gip to the joints than hurt the baby.

Bluelightbaby · 03/12/2022 17:47

As others have said unless you have symptoms nothing anyone can do, and tbh even if you did have symptoms not much they could do at 16weeks.

Not strictly true. If you're worried you can ring the early pregnancy assessment centre for advice and guidance. I imagine you'll be fine because it's early, baby is well protected in there and your stomach didn't take impact, but if you're worried ring them and talk it through it is what they are there for. Hopefully they'll be able to reassure you. I would say maybe take it easy, I'm as bad for deciding I can totally do something but you're pregnant so nows the time to delegate and make the most of it!

Remaker · 04/12/2022 00:48

You’ll likely be fine, just monitor for any unusual symptoms.

And please take this as a warning- pregnancy is not the time to be standing on counters, climbing ladders or doing anything dangerous. Your balance and centre of gravity will change - best to keep your feet on the floor!

When I was about 32 weeks I fell about 5 feet really hard on to my bum and because I weighed a fair bit I went down with a bang. Texted my midwife and she said a jolt/ fall isn't anything to worry about unless you fall directly on to bump and are concerned about movements.

OP you will be absolutely fine. I got kicked in the stomach by a horse when I was 16 weeks (I'm v accident prone!) and rung MAU and they said at 16 weeks baby has absolutely loads of fluid and is well protected.
