So uncomfortable with 3rd pregnancy, will they induce at 38 weeks?

35 weeks pregnant with DD3 and I don't think I've been so uncomfortable in my entire life. She's measuring above the 100th centile for her leg length, and for her abdominal circumference, and just below the 90th centile for her overall weight. Had extra fluid at scan at 33 weeks and diagnosed with polyhydramnios, had another scan today and they said the fluid has now gone down but that she's measuring ahead so they're going to continue with increased monitoring. She lives in my ribs, my stomach is often rock solid and it makes it extremely hard to breathe, I'm in tears most days from how uncomfortable I am and all the extra pressure is making my back pain unbearable. Since I have a codeine allergy I'm stuck with paracetomal as my only option which does sweet FA.

What's the chance they'll induce at 38 weeks? I'm not sure I can do another 5 weeks of this, or possibly more if I go overdue :(

I could've written this post myself so massive hand hold from me! I'm 36 weeks now and utterly miserable with second baby that's measuring off the chart bug. I currently have a UTI, poly the works. So uncomfortable. Section booked for 39 weeks but begged them for an earlier date at my last appointment but they won't have any of it. Lots of trusts won't agree to anything before 39 weeks, which I understand but I so wish it was different!

Oh bless you! I know 39 weeks is the safest week to induce at because that's what I was told with my 2nd when I had reduced movements. But if you're measuring off the chart then I don't see why they wouldn't consider inducing at 38 weeks instead, a baby at 38 weeks is just as developed as one at 39 weeks, all they do from this stage onwards is gain weight and if ours are already measuring as well above a good weight then why do we have to suffer for longer 😭 x

In my experience they won’t unless there’s a problem with baby. My consultant didn’t care one jot even when I went in begging for induction at 40 weeks as I was in agony!
I was forced to go to nearly 42 weeks and cried daily. I’m pregnant again and I’m already feeling it at 23 weeks.

Im sorry that your suffering 🙁

I think it is pot luck depending on trust and consultant you are under but some may agree to induce at 38 weeks as it sounds like you come under 'large for gestational age' if measurements are showing what they are. They like to go to 39 weeks as baby's lungs are that bit more mature but like you say, there isn't much difference and it doesn't sound like your baby will be small. Speak to your midwife at your 36 week appointment and ask what their guidelines are for induction.

I really feel for you, I am 36 weeks pregnant with DD2 and feel like an elephant, measuring on 75th centile for everything but far bigger than in my first pregnancy and she was 9lb at term. Hoping she doesn't hang on too much longer, I'm fed up! The back pain is unreal.

Good luck with everything, hope you can get a plan in place soon x

Oh that's awful! I was induced at 41 weeks with my 1st, they gave me the option at my 40 week app of whether I wanted to be induced at 41 or 42 weeks. There wasn't any problem with the baby or myself either, just gave me those options. And then with my 2nd i was induced at 39 weeks because I kept having reduced movements. DD1 weighed 7lb10oz and was 9 days late, DD2 weighed 7lb11oz and was 5 days early 😅

This one is already almost measuring 7lb at 35 weeks, I'm exhausted :(

Aww you poor thing, I'm right there with you with feeling fed up! I'll speak to my midwife next week and just reiterate how uncomfortable I am. It's so strange with this one because according to my notes DD1 was on the 19th centile at birth, DD2 was on the 39th, and now this one is already just below the 90th :| dreading the thought of a 10lb baby haha x

I drank raspberry leaf tea with my last two (of three)- seemed to bring on very fast, effective labour especially if you drink twelve cups in one day

I heard this one when I was trying to induce myself with my 1st daughter, don't you have to drink it for a few weeks leading up to your due date? 😅

Tried every trick in the book to put myself in labour with her haha
