Third baby- huge!

Those who have had 3…Please tell me I will slow down growth wise or am I destined to have a huge baby?

I had a big one last time (12 months ago) but I’m 23 weeks and massive now, I’m struggling with everyday things because I’m lugging around this huge bowling ball. Last time I was managing to walk 6 miles on the day I had DC!

Have I just peaked early or am I really going to grow for 20 more weeks?

Oh poor you!! I was absolutely massive straight away with my 3rd - even paid for a 9 week scan to make sure she wasn’t twins! I had a vast bump early on and throughout, but actually the growth did slow down towards the end. She was born 8lb 15oz so larger than average, but not absolutely huge. One midwife told me we get bigger quicker because we’re all nice and stretchy after the first 2. Lovely!

I'm about to have my 4th and from the word go I've been huge! Midwife says it's down to being g already stretchy from previous babies. I'm having growth scans and baby is on the 30th percentile line so far. Last baby was 8lb 2oz so we'll see

Ugh yeah #3 can be a pain. I only put on 15lbs with my first, 25lbs with my second, and then FIFTY FIVE with my third, even though my lifestyle was healthier - I was much more active, and eating good food at home rather than eating out all the time as I did with my first two.

The midwives were 0% concerned, even though I was!

Turned out fine. DS is now 18 months and I’ve lost most of the weight again without really trying. He was a large baby (85th percentile, while my older two were both 10th percentile), but it was an “easy” birth as they go, and he’s been healthy.

Keep an eye on things, especially if you start getting headaches or unquenchable thirst. Try to eat well and stay active, but weight gain in itself isn’t necessarily a bad sign.

Oh also - the midwives recommended a support belt for your bump if you’re really massive. I never ended up trying it, but some mums swear by them.

Thanks all of you! Stretchy is one word for it!

My babies were 5th centile and 95th centile!!! Surely this one can’t be bigger or I’ll explode!

Ive already seen a physio but I’ll look into a belt. I’m dreading the state of my body after, it feels totally out of control 😬

Oh yes - good advice to get a bump support belt! Invaluable.
