Anterior placenta - feeling first movements?

Hi all. I found out at my last scan that I have an anterior placenta. I’m currently 19+5 and can still feel nothing from my baby. It certainly doesn’t help with the anxiety after losing our first baby. When should I expect to feel her? Is anybody else going through anything similar?

It's common in first pregnancy to not feel anything until after 20+ weeks.

First was anterior low and was 24/25 weeks.
Second anterior high and slight movements at 15/16 weeks but still sporadic at 21 weeks.

I was about 23 weeks before I felt anything (very light flutters) and didn't feel any pattern until closer to 30 weeks. Movement was not like some of my friends had experienced and I felt my baby was quieter than most - I think she was just well cushioned behind the placenta. Midwife told me 'if in doubt, get checked out' so when I hadn't felt baby move/movements changed I did go to triage (probably about 5 times in total). It is worth it for peace of mind. X

Well after the 20 week scan. Try not to worry.

My placenta is not anterior but I started feeling first flutters at 21+5, 1st baby x

I have anterior placenta - started feeling first small movements around week 20, more and more with every week. Not too long now OP!

My last pregnancy I had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel anything until about 22 weeks. Like @wishuponastar1988, I ended up in triage about five times as I found it hard to find a pattern or feel many movements (the last time, I was 39 weeks and they decided to induce). Baby was absolutely fine, just very cushioned in there! She’s now a very non-stop 1.5 year old.
I remember the worry well (after also losing my first) sending you hugs - hope the movements appear soon for you.

I had an anterior placenta with my first and didn't feel anything until around 21 weeks.

BusySittingDown · 27/11/2022 19:16

Btw, it's completely possible that you HAVE felt movements but just dismissed as wind/tummy rumblings as the first little flutters feel really similar Smile.

Thank you everyone !! It’s good to hear that it’s completely normal, and I appreciate the support. I’ll try to stop worrying so much now !! ♥️

I first felt something at 23 weeks and more regular movements from 25 weeks.

Catdaft · 27/11/2022 20:04

I had this and it was about 22 weeks for me.

Plantmoretrees86 · 27/11/2022 20:08

Felt the first flutters around 21 weeks but not regular movements until 24/25 weeks

Shinytaps · 27/11/2022 20:08

I had this with all my kids and didn't feel anything until well after the 20 week scan. Then suddenly it was really pronounced. Try not to worry - not easy I know!

BuffaloCauliflower · 27/11/2022 20:29

I had a posterior placenta in my first pregnancy and felt a clear pattern by 23 weeks. This time round my placenta is anterior and even with being a second pregnancy I movements were still really faint until at least 28 weeks. It’s made a massive difference for me.

I had an anterior placenta and was 22 weeks when I first felt movements xx
