Hi all, I know a very similar thread to this one has been around but I was just wondering about a few other things......
Have finally had to give in to being pg and was told to leave work today before I fell over and never got up again! I'm a teacher and the area I teach in is about to undergo a review (whether or not to go two tier - Primary / secondary) basically we'll all have to apply for our old jobs again. My head is desperately trying to tell me that if I was to now be signed off until 36 weeks (when they can make me take maternity I think) that this amount of sick leave would go against me. I thought that any maternity related illness was noted differently to normal illness, am I wrong? If i go on maternity straight away I basically end up losing £1,000 which I can't afford to do. Help, am seeing doctor tomorrow.

BOLLOCKS
sorry to be rude but i had a similar situation when pregnant with ds......(i am a teacher and there was potential restructuring going on). Am now a teacher on sick since 20 weeks - now 27 and not going back til maternity...and possible restructuring again in future

The law is soooooo on your side

Pregnancy related sickness is recorded/treated separately from other sickness - would be blatant discrimination otherwise. Check with your union or HR dept

ask boss to put this in writing for you.......boss will back down!
