Hi this is really embarrassing but I really need some support.

I had my baby girl via c section and basically after I developed an anal fissure and I am suffering with bad constipation, I have been different stuff by the doctors to help with the constipation but it just doesn't seem to be getting better and I will be honest, I haven't been taken one medicine too much as I'm scared my body may relay it ..

Does anyone have any advice? I just want to enjoy maternity leave with my long awaited little girl but it's getting to me now.

Peppermint tea and laxido was what worked for me. I was in a lot of pain with trapped wind and constipation.

huge quantities of weetabix and orange juice helped me! How long ago was your section?

Wetabix, oranage juice and stool softeners that'll help!

Which medicines have you tried and which one aren’t you using? Have you had your first postpartum poo or is this a long-term issue? Is the fissure healed?

Sorry for all the questions!

I found a cocktail of lactulose, movicol and a glycerine suppository worked the best to kickstart everything. Then plenty of apples and prunes and other boring foods instead of the chocolate biscuits I felt I deserved. And hydrate like a motherfucker! You need water!

A warm bath also helped, and feet up on a stool when pooing, plus the time to relax and just sit on the loo for a while, letting gravity do its thing, rather than rushing it.

Dulcolax
Lactulose
Orange juice

raw carrots and tons of water.

My section was 5 months ago and I had trouble going then for nearly a week and half, midwife said it was normal.

Fissure isn't healed but it's getting better (got cream for that) and I also got laxido and fybogel but I'm too scared to keep taking them as I don't want my body to rely on it :/

A large bowl of bran flakes and at least 2 litres of water every day. You really need to keep your water intake up.

After my section I added Lactulose to make sure I didn’t get constipated but I don’t need it now, the bran flakes and water do their job.

Would second the water OP. Drink as much as you can it makes such a difference.
