Compact folding pram with decent suspension?

Hi all, going round and round a bit when it comes to travel systems and prams as there’s just so many!! We have a very outdoorsy hobby so going to get an out n about second hand for that but want something more compact/nippy for general day to day. Looked at the Joie Versatrax today and it seemed to fit our requirements but since read the suspension isn’t great and would want it to manage park paths etc.

So any suggestions? Requirements are:

  • Compact/easy flat fold that can sit in back seats or footwell as no room in boot.
  • Decent enough suspension, we’re not city dwellers
  • Parent facing option
  • Travel system from new born- car seat/carry cot compatible.

Any advice very much appreciated!

We’ve just got a yo-yo zen and love it. Super compact and very nippy. Converts between baby bit and buggy, can also by adapters so car seat can go on. bit expensive but there’s some good Black Friday deals on atm and we just got an ex demo one for half price. Worth a look!

We have a yo yo which I really like but it's not parent facing once you move them out of the newborn carry cot thing.

Ocarro - excellent suspension, folds relativity flat, and can handle rough terrain. Mine was excellent for this.

Bugaboo Fox is also a good one to consider.

I wouldn’t get a yo-yo for outdoorsy stuff. It’s a city pram.

I love my Ocarro but definitely doesn't fit in the footwell, barely fits in the boot

I've got versatrax. If u do walks on very rough terrain then maybe not best but we do long walks with ours and it's fine. It's great for the amount of storage underneath to.

Ah, missed the footwell bit. Yes, even folded in two parts it wouldn’t fit in a footwell.

I'd buy the out and about and see if you need anything else - I went through a few prams before we got the out and about and honestly, speaking as someone who lives fairly rurally and drives rather than takes public transport, it's the best one I've owned. One of the most popular pushchairs I see used round here too. Can get car seat adapters and a carrycot, it's really nippy round the shops and a proper workhorse over rough ground. Why bother with a second pram?

Sorry but I think you are looking for a unicorn buggy OP. If you can’t fit the buggy in the boot but need good suspension you will struggle as it’s only really the ‘city’ buggies (like a baby zen yoyo or joie aer) that would fold small enough to fit in a footwell and not sure how well that would work with a car seat in the back as well as possible additional carrycot.

Might be better to look at getting a really good carrier for walking? And a good waterproof cover for the carrier too. The ergo baby is great.

If you are able to move things and find room in the boot then our uppababy vista has amazing suspension and has been able to handle bumpy muddy paths with ease. And the carrycot is overnight sleep safe.

AliceinSlumberland · 21/11/2022 16:06

@welshweasel Simply because once they grow out of the carry cot they can only be world facing and that’s an important factor for me!

Thanks all, think we’re going to go for the Joie Finiti I think it’s called. Footwell might be too optimistic and back seat will need to do!

Have a look at the mountain buggy terrain if you deffo want parent facing.

simplythequest · 21/11/2022 16:57

We were impressed with the offerings from Cosatto - one of their models had amazing suspension! They are all pretty easy to fold and not too bug, plus have interchangeable seating options, including which way round they face

We got a Noordi Sole.
It doesn't fit in the footwell but I think it meets all your other requirements.
