Are you sure there's only one?

ItsDinah · 18/11/2022 20:27

Speak to your midwife or GP about this.

@Flirtyandthirty I wish I was because that would explain it from 5-13 weeks pregnant I couldn't keep anything down was vomiting everything had extreme food aversion to almost everything, only recently I'm starting to feel ok I still can't eat alot without vomiting so I've been keeping my meals small, for example this morning I had one plain bagel, with nothing on it and a cup of coffee then I ate one bag of space raiders and a few grapes and a ham sandwich is all I have eaten today I'm not sure if i weighed myself correctly before my pregnancy as I used an at home weighing scales, they told me I was 69kg today I weighed myself (at the vet🙈) so I know their scales are right and it came up I was 84kg vet said their scales are accurate, still I can't understand how I'm 84kg with the amount I eat latley some days I will have a proper meal but most days I feel too sick...

"Weight gain in pregnancy varies greatly. Most pregnant women gain between 10kg and 12.5kg (22lb to 28lb), putting on most of the weight after week 20.
Much of the extra weight is due to your baby growing, but your body will also be storing fat, ready to make breast milk after your baby is born."

I think there must be a weighing error so don't stress about this.

You can't compare weights from two different scales, they could be calibrated completely differently. Have you tried weighing something like a few bags of flour on your home scales?

Also, you were likely wearing shoes and more clothes at the vets. And it was likely later in the day. These will both increase your 'weight ' on the scale.

There are so many variables with weight, especially during pregnancy when you're likely drinking more but may also be struggling with bowel movements in addition to growing a baby.

Hope you're able to eat properly soon and feeling calmer. Take care of yourself.

Did you get weighed at your booking appointment? I’m pretty sure I was weighed again at the hospital by a midwife after my 12 week scan too, I was never told the weight but it was in my notes. That would be a better comparison of weight gain.

Speak to your midwife about your concerns but I agree with what pp said about the scales -

Spockrates · 19/11/2022 10:06

It's likely your at home scales are calibrated differently to your vets scales. Weigh yourself on your home scales, and if you show up as 84kg again, talk to your nidwife.

I believe they normally weigh at booking appointment only and then again when you are in hospital to give birth (incase of the need for anaesthetic). Might be different for different trusts but that is the case at mine.

Your scales at home will be calibrated different to the ones at the vets. All scales will say different weight due to calibration and also what surface they are on.

Ask your midwife at your next appointment what your weight was when they recorded. I am sure she will weigh you again if there are concerns.

YoBeaches · 19/11/2022 16:38

It's extremely unlikely you can be 84kg and pregnant and a size 10-12 unless you're about 7ft tall.

Buy new scales or failing that speak to your midwife and ask for a health check.
