Hello!
i was advised by my midwife to snack on some nuts whilst pregnant - I’ve started having a handful of Roasted Almonds a day but I read online you should keep away from Roasted Almonds?🫣 I thought any nuts were okay? Advise please!

What reason did you read for roasted almonds being bad? I can't think of anything that would prohibit a pregnant woman from eating almonds

I was looking for ideas on how to eat the nuts rather than just eating a handful so like having them in porridge - on a salad etc! And one site said to avoid peanuts and roasted almonds🥲 but I’ve been eating peanut butter religiously and now roasted almonds apparently it’s the roasted part that’s bad? All this pregnancy stuff is confusing😅

It’s outdated advice to avoid nuts. It was thought years ago that it might help avoid allergies but that’s been disproven so snack away. Presuming you live in the UK follow the NHS advice and that alone. If you trawl the internet you’ll find outdated stuff like the nuts, or more commonly American specific advice which is based on US food standards so not relevant unless you live there.

Aw no don't worry @Ultraviolett , nuts are fine. I can't understand any reason why roasting them would be a problem.

I think I've even heard of research linking peanut consumption whilst pregnant to lower risk of allergy in the baby (Don't quote me on that though)! So enjoy your peanut butter!

I agree with @FlounderingFruitcake on just sticking with the NHS advice assuming you're in the UK. If not, then your country's equivalent I suppose. In my first pregnancy, I quickly discovered that if you google any food and scroll down far enough, you'll find some random person or website telling you why you absolutely must not ever eat that whilst pregnant. So just find sensible guidelines relevant to your area from a reputable source, and forget the rest! Smile
