Reduced movements not met criteria can anyone explain

Today I went in for reduced movements. She is normally very active but I have been feeling poorly and did not feel her at all over night. The first time she did not meet the criteria, her heart rate kept dipping and losing contact with the monitor. The second time she finally started to move and even though her heart rate was up and down she did meet the criteria and I was allowed to go home.

Can anyone explain what the criteria are. Is it bad that she did not meet it the first time. When I got to the hospital I had gone a long time without feeling any movements but she is back to normal now.

Its the Dawes-Redman criteria. The machine is looking for baby’s heart rate to be within a certain range and for it to have variability (that it goes up and down appropriately in response to other stimuli) and not show any worrying patterns. If there were issues with losing contact then it would take longer to meet criteria than if it had a consistent signal from the start.

Thank you this is very helpful. The second time it did have some variability so it is good to know that is a good thing. At least if I do have to go in again I will understand what they are looking for.
