First time mom.

Any ideas on what to put baby in when they're born? I'm due early feb and it's gonna be cold so any suggestions on what to put baby in. I have everything I need (clothes) but worrying the clothes won't be warm enough?

Do you mean in the hospital? It will be boiling.

Popper vest and sleepsuit is standard. They usually give you a wee hat, but you could pack one as well.

For going home, an all in one padded or fleecy pramsuit is good, but you don't want to get too chunky as the carseat straps need to be nice and tight.

Things with feet built in are ideal for the winter because baby socks are a nighmare.

Oh, and take a few changes - might just be me but I wemt through 3 changes of clothes in what felt like as many minutes with ds1 - first vest he peed on and then I didn't get the nappy fastened correctly and he peed through that too 😳

We only ever used bodysuits and sleepsuits with a blanket over once strapped in for until car seat. Hat while outside. Winter baby too!

Just a long sleeve vest and sleepsuit will be fine. Don't use a pram suit in a car seat. It's incredible dangerous. Firstly because you cannot get a correctly tightened harness, and secondly because babies overheat very quickly. Not only will the car be warm after a few minutes, but cocooned in the car seat with high sides makes them warm, and a pram suit is an additional layer to add to the overheating risk.

You're best to place a cellular blanket over baby once the harness is fastened, which you can remove in the car (if needed) once the car has warmed up.

You can't use costs for them in car seats at all.

Long sleeved vest, baby gro, hat, nice warm blanket for the car seat.

I had a Feb baby earlier this year. Agree with PP - don’t put them in a pramsuit in the car. Long sleeved vest plus sleepsuit plus hat, maybe a cardigan over the top if it’s particularly chilly. Then cellular blanket.

Take several changes - those early meconium poos can get everywhere! Also consider taking both newborn and 0-3 month sizes as you don’t know how big the baby may be!
