Gestationaldiabetes.co.uk and associated Facebook group is great. I had it in a previous pregnancy and have been given the testing kit to see if I've got it this time round so may well be joining you!

Please try not to worry 💙
I had GD in my second pregnancy this year, diagnosed at 32 weeks. I spent days beating myself up. I tried to be diet controlled, but could not get the morning reading low. I was then placed on Metformin and still my morning reading was high. In the end, I was on Metformin and insulin for the final week of pregnancy and I felt sooo guilty.
My baby was born by planned c-section (this was planned before the GD diagnosis) weighing 8lb 6oz. She had her sugars checked for 24 hours, all of which were fine, and now she and I are both absolutely fine! I spent all that time stressing and feeling guilty for absolutely no reason. She is 13 weeks and thriving! She also dropped quite a lot of weight and she's on the 50th percentile now, so perfect! 🙂
My advice is watch the carbs and cut sugar as much as possible. I think the advice I was given was no more than 15g of carbs for breakfast, then no more than 40g of carbs with dinner and evening meal. For snacks, try keep them under 10g of carb. Try and go on a good walk each day too.
But please, please - don't worry 🙂

I had GD and controlled it by diet. I had to be very careful with potatoes, rice and pasta any carbohydrates really. My baby was 5lb 10oz. There is nothing you can do to prevent this it’s just one of those things.

Sorry you're struggling with your diagnosis. You'll get the hang of it all in no time though, and remember it's only temporary. Nothing you did caused this either.

As another poster mentioned, I've found the best resource by far to be the gestational diabetes UK website. There's recipes on there and loads of info and advice that is so invaluable and not generally told to you by the NHS. It's absolutely a life saver I found.
