Noticed this morning has two new small bumps in it - pronounced. Think this is where the underlying stitches all join. Hard lumps. About 3mm across.

Prodigious bump now sticks out further than enormous norks.

This is normal right?

Mines the same - dd is only 15 months though, so not the largest of gaps between pregnancies! I'm 15 weeks and my scar is lumpy and has 2 or 3 raised patches, it's also quite sore at times -just a dull ache and the occaisional twinge. The midwife says it's very normal and it may get worse as I get bigger - great, very cheerful thought!

My DD is also only 15 months - nice thought isn't it, that you have this bulgy bit which will only get worse but 'don't worry it probably won't split!

Are you planning a VBAC or another section?

Ok, erm- mine is still like this and I'm NOT pg! (dd is 2 next week) Should I see GP?

wmmc -can't decide if I want to VBAC or plan a section, am spinning in circles about it if I'm brutally honest with myself. Have an appointment with my consultant on 26th Feb, so will see what she says. I know hospital policy states VBAC unless dangerous to mother or baby.

What was your section for? I had induction, then failed to progress past 6cms, and baby in distress. Lovely, empowering experience I don't think!!

My midwife told me 'scar rupture is very rare you know, and you'll be closely monitored throughout labour to make sure you and baby are ok' Great, hours tied to the bed again, talk about giving me nightmares!

i don;t remember any scar pain, but i had years between pregnancies

AFAIK, the risk of rupture is during labour and even then it is small.. it is not so much the stretching etc but the pressure of contractions . so simply being pregnant should not cause a rupture .

i would have the MW examine you, it might be due to you growing so quickly...

i still have a tiny lump under the skin 8.5 years later

Megglevache - how scary, I presume everything was ok and all is now a distant memory? Good to hear you had great care 2nd time around though. When I had dd the maternity unit was heaving with people and there just weren't enough midwives to go around the post natal ward, hoping it's quieter in July!

Fio - I had an emergency c-section with dd, was horrible and really don't want to have another. What swayed you towards elective sections for your youngest 2?

whomovedmychocolate · 30/01/2008 16:12

Shortshafe - I had a failed induction for pre-eclampsia and then an emergency section because I was in distress, the baby was absolutely sodding fine the whole way through and afterwards - which I'm glad about. But I ended up on special care and she didn't .

I definitely would like a VBAC if I'm fit enough at the time (I have SPD) but I'm not willing to have continual monitoring - I can't keep still in labour at all - and I don't even have a consultant appt yet - I think they've lost me again .

Am seeing the mw next week though so I'll ask her to have a feel - My bump is bloody enormous though it overtook my boobs in entering the room first yesterday.

Fio - thanks for sharing so honestly, sounds horribly traumatic and I imagine it's difficult for you even now. Certainly helps to put my experiences into perspective.

WMMC -am at the thought of your bump entering the room before you! I'm just starting to show and getting funny looks from people in a 'is she pregnant or just fatter' way. Am not a small girl to start with so don't think I show as soon as slimmer ladies!

I'd like to try to VBAC, definately can't do continuous monitoring again though, I find it impossible to keep still too, with dd my mum and dh were being told to hold me down - great!

I think I see the consultant at 18ish weeks, then 32ish and 38. Are you going to chase it up at your midwife app?
