Just a support thread for anyone else feeling like they may vomit at any second of the day 😅

I'm 6 weeks and feeling almost constant nausea Envy feel so run down with other things, that being constantly nauseous/knackered is really taking its toll. Was off sick work today, but so short staffed, that I've spent the day feeling so guilty and making me feel worse lol.

It's like a vicious cycle, I know hunger will make it worse but the thought of most foods make me feel even more sick. I'm so grateful I'm feeling sick as it's reassuring my anxiety about the pregnancy going ok, but god is it exhausting!

@timotam hey lovely, I feel for you, I throw up most days, have some level of sickness constantly, I feel exhausted and just generally miserable! I have found as I hate to say it, the only thing that helps is eating, but the same as you I really really don't want to eat, I've found things that are least offence on the way back out the easist to eat, cold yoghurts are fairly easy! X

timotam · 09/11/2022 18:44

@Moosh18 sorry to hear you're experiencing it too! It's nice to be able to have a moan on here, I don't want to make a fuss in 'real life', work etc, as I don't want to look like a wuss who can't cope Blush or that I'm ungrateful to be pregnant (TTC for 3 years so know all too well how many people would love to be in this position). Think that I'm an emotional mess at the moment too doesn't help 🤣

Think I'll have to force myself to eat more regularly. I've been sucking on boiled sweets which helps a little. Is this your first? I hope it eases off soon for you!

Hope it's okay if I join! Congratulations on your pregnancy!I'm 8 weeks and really struggling. I haven't actually been sick but the nausea is enough to make me need to lie down. Mornings are actually not the worst although it's constant - it's worst evenings and through the night, I wake up retching.

The only thing that makes me feel better is food. I have a pot of chia pudding that I have with yoghurt, a bit of cheese and toast is ok. I have put on 6lb in four weeks as even though I can't stand the thought of eating, if I don't I can barely get anything done!

Moosh18 · 09/11/2022 19:32

@timotam I'm so greatful to be pregnant, we had a MC in June at 12 weeks and had no sickness in that pregnancy whatsoever, I have a DD 18 months and had terrible sickness! So hoping it's a good sign x

timotam · 11/11/2022 20:39

@saltofcelery congratulations to you too! Yes yes to the near constant nausea, it's really exhausting isn't it. Mine also seems to be worse in the evenings. I feel better for about 10 mins after eating then it comes back 😣

I've been sick 4 times today and been feeling nauseous the whole time. I said to DP earlier at what point do people get anti-sickness tablets? Or it's classed as HG 🤔 tricky to manage at work too, or going out anywhere really, as I don't get much warning and so anxious I'll throw up in front of everyone lol

@Moosh18 so sorry for your loss. Yes I'm definitely taking it as a good sign that things are still progressing well too 🤞

throwing up 4 times in a day could definitely be something to speak to a doctor about.. that feels quite a lot. Are you able to keep any food down?

9+4 and really struggling with the constant nausea. Have only thrown up sporadically (twice this week), but it’s really difficult. A lot harder than I imagined!!!

saltofcelery · 12/11/2022 08:38

@timotam I'd definitely contact your GP surgery. Have you had your booking appointment yet? This would be something I'd bring up there - four times a day is a lot, you must be exhausted!!

lemonybiscuits · 12/11/2022 08:51

I'm nearly 8 weeks and the nausea is unbearable. It started before 4 weeks too. I've tried 3 anti sickness meds and none of them work. They barely touch the nausea and they make me so drowsy that it's really hard to get up in the morning or to motivate myself to do anything. I have a 3 year old already and my husband works away, we have no family support either so the next 8 weeks is going to feel very long.

firsttimelondonmummy · 12/11/2022 14:43

@timotam struggling with symptoms doesn’t mean your a ‘wuss who can’t cope’ we need to get out of this toxic cycle of feeling like because we are pregnant and should only be grateful and that it’s not ok to share with leadership teams and to take care of yourself/ take time off if needed.
You are growing a literal human and any decent workplace won’t label you a wuss or judge you for looking after yourself when sick or exhausted! 💖

firsttimelondonmummy · 12/11/2022 14:43

*we should only be grateful

Moosh18 · 12/11/2022 15:01

@lemonybiscuits honestly the tablets are the worst! They take the edge of it for me but o feel so so out of it and exhausted all I can think about it sleeping! Some days my sickness is so bad I sit and cry, please be kind to yourself? If you felt like this with a bug you'd take time to rest sleep it off etc! So do what you need to do and feel how you need to feel! I cry often about how I can't take it! X

timotam · 12/11/2022 18:20

Thanks for all your lovely supportive messages. @firsttimelondonmummy you're very right! If it was anyone else I would say exactly the same, so definitely need to start being kinder to myself.

I have my first midwife appointment this week, so I think I'm going to ask about getting some tablets. I'm feeling near-constant nausea and throwing up several times a day, making me very anxious to go out too as I'm paranoid I'm going to throw up in front of everyone lol.

Sending love to all those who are also struggling

I’m 6 weeks and I’ve felt nauseous since yesterday. Just drank ginger tea and it hasn’t helped. My first midwife appointment is over 2 weeks away :(

MendaciousMabel · 14/11/2022 13:57

I'm really struggling with nausea too, only come on in the last few days, I am 6+5. I am eating the blandest food possible atm but weirdly when I'm eating is the only time I feel some relief - can't keep eating, I'm big enough as it is!!!

timotam · 17/11/2022 17:34

After a rough week I've been put on medication now which has helped slightly! It's at least giving me a couple of hours where I don't feel sick and can actually eat lol. How's everyone else getting on?

heartbroken22 · 17/11/2022 21:11

Hey guys so sorry to hear you're struggling. I had hg with all my pregnancies and my last I had to have a termination because I was bedridden and didn't even have the strength to clean myself.

Nausea has hit me in my current pregnancy at 6 weeks... but it's okay so long as I eat regularly even much on something. It's not like the hg. A lovely lady on here suggested b6 and b12 vitamins to help the nausea. I've taken them and I do think they work. Also buy mentos chewing gum. Everytime I feel nauseous I just pop one in my mouth and I'm okay for a bit till I can get some food.

Moosh18 · 18/11/2022 07:51

I'm feeling really down, but after an awful scare with a heavy bleed last week I'll take it all 😩😩

timotam · 20/11/2022 20:30

@heartbroken22 oh gosh sorry to hear of the rough time you've had! I'm glad this pregnancy is a bit better for you and you're finding ways to manage it. The tablets I'm on allow me to eat which in turn does help the sickness a bit, but it's not stopped it completely, and still throwing up several times a day.

@Moosh18 oh poor you :( I had a little bleed last week and although wasn't as bad as yours it did make me feel grateful for feeling sick/having signs it was still going ok. Take care of yourself Flowers

11 weeks and feeling pretty miserable constantly feeling sick. I've only actually been sick once, but as soon as i eat my stomach feels so unsettled and I've been occasionally having a weird sour taste in my mouth too. I don't feel at death's door, it's just the constancy that's too much and gives me no break! I cried out of frustration the other night.

Again, like you all, feel grateful to even be in this position, especially after a long time TTC, but I do hope it subsides once I reach the second trimester. Heard that indigestion comes back in the third trimester though, which made me panic!

heartbroken22 · 20/11/2022 21:17

I ordered some b6 tablets today as the other ones I was taking were b complex. Immediately felt better after I took one and have been able to do some work although I did puke once. But it wasn't the dizzy overwhelming sick where you feel anxiety and want to cry. It was just out. I'll let you know how I get on.

inkworks273 · 21/11/2022 06:20

Hi ladies. I'm 5+5 and the constant nausea started yesterday. It's the exact same as my first pregnancy with ds who is 3. That time it lasted up until 16 weeks 😭

I'm going to try speaking to the gp today to see if I can get some tablets. I tried some last time and they only just about took the edge off.

Moosh18 · 21/11/2022 07:22

It's the worst isn't it, I had a reprieve from it Saturday, felt really good, so I panicked! But it's back with a vengeance now x

LightUpTheWoods · 21/11/2022 08:00

Oh ladies... you have all my sympathies. I struggled through 2 HG pregnancies, with lots of hospital admissions in both. Pregnancy sickness is utterly grim. 12 years on, the memories are still dreadfully vivid!! When someone tells me they're pregnant now, my first reaction is always "do you feel alright?".

For anyone waiting to see their MW to get a prescription for anti sickness meds - I got mine from my GP.

PSS - website and FB page is a marvellous source of support. Practical, medical, emotional, legal.

For people in employment - under the Maternity Act 2000 (?) pregnancy related illness must be recorded separately to normal sick leave and can not be used in disciplinary action against you. So take time off to rest and get through this!

inkworks273 · 21/11/2022 13:15

My gp has prescribed cyclizine. It didn't help much last time though, so I'm not holding out much hope.
