Hello all I’m currently pregnant with mu
first bundle of joy, I’m a little confused on this NHS avoid list for example the packs the midwife gave me on what to avoid states pasteurised only if something didn’t have pasteurised written on it in the shop is that okay to have if it was like ‘egg.’ Sorry if this sounds daft!🥹

Not sure I understand your post? You can have cooked egg definitely and tbh in the U.K. raw egg is likely fine but some people choose to avoid it to be extra on the safe side.

My midwife said I can only have pasteurised egg so to check ingredients etc but I’ve noticed a lot don’t say pasteurised or unpasteurised so it’s all abit confusing.

Ahh right. Unpasteurised egg is just raw egg so anything that’s cooked will be fine (cake for example) it’s things like salad dressing that might have raw egg in.

Ahhh that’s great thank you I was looking at a cake in a supermarket and had ‘egg.’ ‘Egg white.’ And I was like oooow it’s not pasterised.., but that makes so much more sense thank you!!

No problem! And congratulations on your pregnancy :)

In the UK you can have raw eggs as long as they are lion stamped. So can still have a runny poached egg!
