Who says the Sleepless Nights Come AFTER the Birth?

I know that going to the loo several times a night is supposed to prepare you for being up all night with baba but what about achy limbs and restless legs and racing thoughts?
Am I just unlucky?
I have tried sleeping with a pillow between my knees and using one of those long maternity pillows (like taking taking a draught excluder into bed) but I am waking every hour IF I get to sleep.

Am 30 wks - should I just shut up and be grateful I dont have to listen to a screaming baby as well.

I am looking forward to her birth - honestly!

I definitely think that the more uptight you are from lack of sleep, the less likely you are to get any - vicious cycle! I cant and dont drink alcohol (has a severe depressive effect on me) but agree that if a mild drink is going to relax you occasionally then why not.
At our ante-natal class Q and A the midwife was very surprised when no-one mentioned alcohol and whether they could have any, so I imagine its common to sneak in the odd one now and then.
Cartainly I know plenty of parents who have made up for the abstention after the birth with that longed for bottle of wine after baba's bedtime!

Dear all,

That's how I felt about the mild dose of tranqueliser I took Friday night. I got a good night's sleep again last night (6 hours aprox.) and took nothing. I am hoping that relaxation, time off work and returning to England will help.
