Can I take anything to help me sleep?

I am 14 weeks pregnant and have suffered insomnia for the last 6 weeks or so, I also have a toddler at home and really need to try and get some decent sleep at night.

does anyone know if there’s anything safe to take during pregnancy that could help me get my sleep routine back?

thanks in advance

I think there are some antihistamine sleep products that are okay. In Australia we have a product called Restavit that I think is ok. I'd ask your pharmacy though, there may be others. Magnesium helps me (but probably not if it's really bad insomnia) @Seashellsrule

I had pregnancy insomnia twice, unfortunately it lasted throughout pregnancy. Didn't take anything for it, but I found hypnobirthing tapes useful - I put one on my phone and used headphones in bed. Didn't exactly send me to sleep but turned my brain off and it was less annoying to feel time passing! I think other Hypno type things would work equally well.

I'd love to know too!
I manage to get to sleep but then I'm awake for about 3 hours in the middle of the night. Before I was pregnant I would have taken Kalms it something herbal like that but I don't think they are ok to take now.

I'd asked at boots but was told they couldn't recommend anything else as I was pregnant.

Yeah I keep suffering with bouts of pregnancy insomnia this time round. I find if I eat a banana right before going to bed I sleep slightly better. I don't think there's anything you can safely take though 😟 Maybe camomile tea? I've had them a couple of times but didn't help me. Hope you do get some much needed sleep x

Thank you for the replies all. I was really hoping someone would say we could have Nytol when pregnant 😴
ill maybe have to speak to my doctor and see if there’s anything they can recommend but may have to try some alternative suggested above.

hope anyone else suffering finds some relief soon! X

Speak to your gp op. I didn't sleep well at all during first trimester but a bit of that was probably anxiety as well. I found hypnobirthing tracks, meditation before bed, white noise, in bed early and reducing my screen time in the hour before I went to sleep (read instead) really helped me.
