LONG HAUL FLIGHT AND IN PAIN!!

I'm 16 weeks along and I've been experiencing really horrid pain in my hips during the night, to the point that it's a little uncomfortable to turn over, restless legs aren't helping either!! Also, I'm waking with really blocked sinuses, something that my friend also suffered with at around 16 weeks. I'm off on a long haul flight in just over 2 weeks and concerned that it's going to be more than a little uncomfortable. Has anyone managed to get extra leg room or an upgrade due to pregnancy related problems?

Prob worth seeing your mw/GP in case it's SPD. If you need extra space you may need a note from the GP to justify it -w worth ringing the airline to check?

not an upgrade but they should be able to give you a seat with more legroom. are you sure you want to fly if you are that uncomfortable?

I've just returned from holiday and was able to book extra leg room seats on all flights. I was able to do it online but you could always phone them. I dont know who you're flying with but BA let you book your seats anytime from booking if you have 'additional needs'. Incidentally, anyone can ask for extra leg room seats.

Also, make sure you go to the gate early and ask them to let you pre-board - it was great not having to stand around in the queue on the plane while everyone puts their bags in the overhead locker.

When you get to the airport - find out if the flight is busy - if not, you can ask to be put on a middle row with no other passengers which means that when the seat belt sign isn't on you can lie down. I was able to do this both ways and it was bliss.

Have a great honeymoon!

Thanks gr1973 I'm flying with Virgin to Hong Kong then on to NZ with air NZ. I have a weekend between the flights. I managed to get a whole middle row to myself on a flight to LA a few years back, bliss indeed!!! Not sure I can luck out twice but fingers crossed!
