Travelling to USA

I'm going on a massive holiday to the US soon (I'll be 7-10 weeks), any tips? Anything there that I can/can't eat that's different to the UK? I know I'll need to get some compression tights for the plane but can't think of anything else!

make sure you read the small print on insurance .When ever you get holiday cover for usa make sure its ott .Better to have it and not need it approach

you cant drink strait from the tap, there water is no good.Everyone buys bottle water over there.

If your going to a hot place gatorade is good ,you need to keep hydrated .

Might be a no-brainer, but just ensure you have travel health insurance for the trip. Most insurance providers do not count pregnancy as a pre-existing condition so you can claim as you normally would.

If you are a meat-eater I would just specify when ordering any beef should be cooked until "no pink in the middle" as I think versions of "medium" vary depending on where you are in the states.

Hey! I just flew to the US and back at 10 & 11 weeks. It was a ten hour flight there 8 back.

Travel tips - sit in an ailse seat so you can get up and have a walk, I went to the toilet about 10 times so just used that as my little walks. Drink loads of water to prevent dehydration on flight which will just make you feel awful if you've got any morning sickness. Take crackers or plain crisps if you get morning sickness and just keep nibbling. I actually got lucky and my nausea passed week 10.

General US tips - they don't sell squash and I was obsessed with it those weeks so devastated I didn't take a little squeezey of the concentrated squash. They also don't have plain cream crackers. If there's anything that you use to keep your nausea at bay, check they sell it there and if they don't, take it with you!

enjoy your trip!

I went at 20w. Their food standards are very different. Cold sliced meat is an infection risk, I avoided salads/chopped fruit that had been sat in the 7/11 etc that were clearly not recently washed, Mexican queso is unpasteurised, their eggs need to be fully cooked not soft yolked as there is no Lion standard.

Perhaps look up US health guidance for pregnant women? I believe it’s a lot stricter than the UK due to poor food standards as pp mentioned.
