It's all individual really, but I'll give my feedback based on my experience: I have used cheeky wipes and reusable nappies - tots bots and bambino mio solo AIOs, and little lambs and tots bots two parters.
The latest cheeky wipes do not seem to last as well as the old types, I found cutting up an old towel to the same size was better (and cheaper) than the branded wipes. The box, that came in the kit, however, has been very useful.
WRT nappies - it all depends on the size and shape of your baby - chubby legs fit some types better, slimmer babies fit other types better. Newborns often need a different size, smaller than the 'birth to potty' nappies - I started out with muslins, nappy nippers (which holds the muslin in place) and a small waterproof wrap, before switching to shaped reusables.
I would recommend getting a few of some different brands (or borrow them from a nappy library) to work out what fits best for you. Overall I found AIOs (all in ones) the best fit when the baby was small, and the easiest for childcare settings. I then found two parters the best for when they started wetting more heavily, and at night - I switched to two parters around a year old as my kids have been heavy wetters - I like both the tots bots and little lambs two part nappies (slightly prefer the Velcro set up of the tots bots inner nappy). I previously found the little lamb wraps to be the best, absolutely bomb proof, however I bought a few more recently and they have unfortunately changed the Velcro, which has made them much less grippy and I found they fell off my toddler now after a bit of running around - really disappointing as previously they were SO fantastic. I preferred Velcro fastenings overall as it's a bit more adjustable, but wraps with poppers arguably wouldn't come undone quite so easily.
A few other things I wish I'd known before starting my reusable journey: The nappies will have a variety of material options, which have varying absorbency. Microfibre is used in the slimmest fitting nappies, it absorbs quickly and dries quickly after washing, but won't hold a large amount and will more easily 'release' the liquid back out again under pressure (for example in a car seat), it also cannot be placed directly against the skin. Cotton is fairly absorbent and Bamboo still more so, but they are both slower to dry after washing and bulkier in the nappy. The plastic wraps and AIOs cannot be tumble dried or hung on a radiator or heated airer as the PUL will deteriorate, however the inner nappy of a 2 parter can be (low heat tumble drier or they may shrink, I tend to only use this as a last resort and more often dry them on a radiator).
Best of luck OP, I have loved using reusables - they are an adjustment and require some organisation but once I got used to it I found them easier than disposables (never worry about running out of nappies!)
