Has anyone tried Cheeky reusable nappies?

I'm hoping to use reusable/ washable nappies and wipes. I've seen lots of people talking about the Cheeky reusable wipes. However they also do reusable nappies, but I've seen very few people talk about them and there's not even many reviews out there.

Was just wondering if anyone had tried these and what their experience was? Or if you have tried other resuable nappies, what is your favourite? I don't have a tumble drier so will be relying on line drying/ hanging on an airer.

Many years ago I used the nappy lady website to decide what to buy then buy my nappies. I was very happy with what I bought and they served two children. They did a questionnaire then advised on the best products for me. It looks like their service is massively more sophisticated now.

Save your cash and buy ikea flannels. Exactly the same.

I used reusables but I don’t have any experience with Cheeky. My advice would be to not buy one of the big kits and instead buy a few from different brands. Different ones work for different people. My favourites were the one size pocket nappies from Little Lamb. I also had quite a few pockets from Baba and Boo which were good but I would use the Little Lamb bamboo inserts in them as I found them the most effective and least bulky. All in one are the closest to disposables, Totsbots fitted DS well but again I would boost with the Little Lamb. One size are advertised as birth to potty but realistically aren’t, we had to wait a couple of months.

We used the sized little lamb nappies with wraps over the top, those are pretty much bombproof. They're all on top of the wardrobe waiting to be washed in time for baby number 2 :)

The wraps are fine, especially if you have a toddler who still needs reusables. They are larger than most. The inner absorbent pads take longer to dry than the ones we have from Bambino Mio.

Try and get a few trial packs and decide which you like. Nappy lady advised teddy nappies for us because they dry quickly but they are a fleecy plastic material and I hated them. We ended up sticking with tots bots and Bambino mio and preferred wraps with pads to all in one.

It's all individual really, but I'll give my feedback based on my experience: I have used cheeky wipes and reusable nappies - tots bots and bambino mio solo AIOs, and little lambs and tots bots two parters.

The latest cheeky wipes do not seem to last as well as the old types, I found cutting up an old towel to the same size was better (and cheaper) than the branded wipes. The box, that came in the kit, however, has been very useful.

WRT nappies - it all depends on the size and shape of your baby - chubby legs fit some types better, slimmer babies fit other types better. Newborns often need a different size, smaller than the 'birth to potty' nappies - I started out with muslins, nappy nippers (which holds the muslin in place) and a small waterproof wrap, before switching to shaped reusables.

I would recommend getting a few of some different brands (or borrow them from a nappy library) to work out what fits best for you. Overall I found AIOs (all in ones) the best fit when the baby was small, and the easiest for childcare settings. I then found two parters the best for when they started wetting more heavily, and at night - I switched to two parters around a year old as my kids have been heavy wetters - I like both the tots bots and little lambs two part nappies (slightly prefer the Velcro set up of the tots bots inner nappy). I previously found the little lamb wraps to be the best, absolutely bomb proof, however I bought a few more recently and they have unfortunately changed the Velcro, which has made them much less grippy and I found they fell off my toddler now after a bit of running around - really disappointing as previously they were SO fantastic. I preferred Velcro fastenings overall as it's a bit more adjustable, but wraps with poppers arguably wouldn't come undone quite so easily.

A few other things I wish I'd known before starting my reusable journey: The nappies will have a variety of material options, which have varying absorbency. Microfibre is used in the slimmest fitting nappies, it absorbs quickly and dries quickly after washing, but won't hold a large amount and will more easily 'release' the liquid back out again under pressure (for example in a car seat), it also cannot be placed directly against the skin. Cotton is fairly absorbent and Bamboo still more so, but they are both slower to dry after washing and bulkier in the nappy. The plastic wraps and AIOs cannot be tumble dried or hung on a radiator or heated airer as the PUL will deteriorate, however the inner nappy of a 2 parter can be (low heat tumble drier or they may shrink, I tend to only use this as a last resort and more often dry them on a radiator).

Best of luck OP, I have loved using reusables - they are an adjustment and require some organisation but once I got used to it I found them easier than disposables (never worry about running out of nappies!)

well, they're asking about the nappies not the wipes.

But tbh I found the cheeky wipes (or any similar brand, whatever) did lend some legitimacy to what we were doing, maybe it shouldn't matter but my family would have taken a dimmer view of us just using cut-up old towels to wipe baby's bum, whereas with the 'system' they were a bit more on board. I didn't really bother with the entire system that much as we were doing laundry more or less daily, but I was glad to have it as a nervous first-timer.

Plus they are a perfect size. Flannels are really too big.

Wow thanks for all your help everyone, lots of useful insights to a complete newbie! There is a reusable nappy network in my area who offer trial kits so will go through them initially to try some out and see what works best.

I bought the cheeky wipes to use with DC1 and they are completely threadbare and falling apart, didn't even get 18m use out of them. So no, I wouldn't bother trying their nappies.

I used reuseable from birth and really rate the Close Pop-ins and also the Baba and Boo pocket nappies - newborn was great for both.

We moved on to BTP nappies and I rate different brands for different reasons. Motherease Uno are my favs, so slim!
